2011 AP Statistics Thread

can someone post a link for some practice exams?

What’s the curve for this test? I’m really worried cause there’s only 40 mc, so each is worth nearly 1 pt on frq…

can anyone explain how to find minimum sample size when given SD of .3, a confidence level of 99.7 and a margin of error of .12??

solve for n in the confidence interval formula… i think.

someone correct me if i’m wrong please

you should use the formula
z*[s/(sqrt n)]= MOE
i believe…

Question:
I’m not that bad at statistics. I took the class just to get a weighted gpa/have a more rigorous schedule and I don’t focus on this class at all (much harder classes). One more thing, I personally kind of hate statistics, maybe its just that my teacher is pretty bad, but I just hate the subject. I really like the concept though if that means anything.
Will this have an impact on what I choose as a major? I love calc though so maybe thats better geared toward bioinformatics, or some kind of engineering.

No penalty for guessing wrong this year, right? So it’s best to answer every MC?

@collegebound: Find z score for 99.7 using invnorm, and just plug all the numbers into the Margin of Error equation and solve for n. Make sure to round up if your answer is in decimals unless the problem specifically tells you not to (would seem kind of weird and I personally haven’t encountered such a problem but who knows).

hey guys, does anyone know the curve for stat this year? i heard its a 68 but that calculator ap pass thing says 63. i get around 68-75 on barrons exams. and ive been super stressed about this exam, so ive just been wondering, how im expected to do?

They make up the curve after grading according to this [AP: The Score-Setting Process](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>About AP Scores – AP Students | College Board)

I’m aiming for a 5, but my teacher has done a poor job of preparing us. All of our quizzes and tests throughout the year were easy and straightforward, and he never put any AP material on any exams. This obviously helped our grades, but when we did practice exams over the last few weeks, a lot of us simply got screwed over.

Am I the only one here who didn’t know about the importance of question 6? I went to AP Central to do 2010 FRQ’s and I printed it out and it said “Question 6, Spend 25 minutes on this part of the exam, worth 25% of the Section II score.” My teacher never even told us that question 6 is an “investigative task” that is worth 25% of all the FRQ’s…

Does anyone know if calculators are allowed on the multiple choice section?

Calculators are allowed for the entire test.

how many multple choice should you get if your aiming for a 5

what does p-value mean in context?

the probability of getting this data, given that the null was true.

@GreedIsGood which year is that?

Okay, what the hell is the answer to #18? Answer key says B, but I don’t see how any of the answers given are true…

@Keasbey Nights hey dude that was the final exam our teacher gave us, and that sorta stumped me…the reason the answer is B is because (9/20) is larger than (12/37) and (19/43). stupid rihgt?
