2011 Architecture Acceptances

Wondering when you received your acceptance for Syracuse & if it was mail, email or checked myslice. Thanks. Btw congrats on that acceptance!

@firefly1: they sent me the acceptance letter with some other stuff via UPS. They also sent me an e-mail. They didn’t update it on myslice. So Syracuse is your 1st choice?

@Kendezi: Yes, Cornell and Cooper are sooooo intense. And I should say it’s hard to finish the Hometest excellently in one month. I did it in the last minute and I don’t think my work is good enough. But the experience is great :]

@Mayoka: Nice. Haha. There was another guy who applied to Cooper Union too and it took him a week, working 10+ hours everyday, to finish the hometest. Do you have a digital version of it that I can look at? The schools that I applied to only required a portfolio and some essays, so I guess it was OK. How’s Cornell’s application?

Kendezi, actually Syracuse or Cornell would be. I think I’d lose it if the UPS guy showed up and it was something my sister ordered instead. Trying to have sense of humor while waiting. I’ve been accepted to Wentworth & UNH already for mechanical engineering.

@Kendezi: I didn’t photocopy my hometest but I do remember some of its topics:

A plan of still life
In the area below the image, project the plan that looking down at each element of the still life.

Portraits
A) A self-portrait
B) A self-portrait that in terms have no reference to the body.

Redefine the grid in black and white only using the following marks: points, lines, plans, intersections and/or erasures.

Rip, tear or cut a critical fragment from any drawing you have ever made, and position that fragment on this page.

Scale a Memory in Plan

Space from literature

Select a mobile or stabile by Alexander Calder and draw it or any detail of it.

Observe a structural such as a facade, a frame or an order. Draw an intersection.

Capture an eclipse.

I wrote essays, sent my portfolio and finished the required interview in Jan. But I’m not sure if my SAT is good enough for Cornell since it’s one of the ivy league. I’m crossing my fingers :D

@Mayoka: Wow, that is deep. It’s gonna take a lot of thinking and planning. I don’t even know what a few of the questions ask for, like 2B, 3, 5, and 6. How’s your SAT?

@Kendezi: Those topics are pretty deep, and strange. Lol. My SAT is around 2000 :P

@Mayoka: Haha. Well, just stay positive, because they also consider your portfolio a lot. And 2000’s is not too low. Haha, I only have 2060 too XD. Well, one of my friends got into U Penn’s architecture program with average GPA and SAT, but his portfolio is really really good.

Accepted to Rice and Syracuse

Accepted: Syracuse
Rejected: Penn State (my transcript arrived late T.T), UT Austin, Rice
Pending:Carnegie Mellon

@archiarchi: Congrats  I got so disappointed when I got rejected by Rice. But it was kinda what I expected because my portfolio was not as good as the one I sent to Syracuse and my GPA and SAT is not that high too. So you’re gonna go to Rice?

@cmr23412: Congrats on your acceptance for Syracuse  So you’re deciding to go there?

@foovers: How’s the capture an eclipse question stupid? Just curious. I didn’t apply to Cooper Union.

accepted to Pratt

:)

@Mayoka: Congrats  Waiting for the admission decisions from Cooper Union and Cornell I guess?
