@Ella89: I am in the same boat as you- torn between UCLA and Cal. :(

Wow congrats again Ella! I recall you saying that you were leaning towards LA. I felt the same way too.

However, after getting in Cal (and especially viewing all those welcome letters) and listening to the video message from Chancellor Birgeneau I am so overwhelmed. Like you said it feels so “ungrateful” to turn down such an amazing opportunity that so few are given!!! (and like you, it is a very very hard fought journey for me as well…4+ years of all-nighters, juggling a 40-hr work week, family responsibility etc. etc.)

I am going to think this through very very carefully. Will visit Berkeley and now I want to “try and make it happen”. It’s going to be REAALLLY hard (financially and so on) to relocate up there, but what the heck. I tell myself it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Can’t give it up.

Besides EECS is one of the hardest majors to get in at Berkeley, and I feel so fortunate to be given that chance!

I’ve been having a bad week on the issue of college and what I want to do, but posts like these make me want to work hard and to achieve past my limits. You guys give me hope.

Thank you all.

I think that’s the reason why these similar threads were created…for giving all of us some piece of mind lol
