A new level of excellence in Florida State freshmen has been reached:

The average high school GPA of the accepted students who will make up the approximately 6,100-member freshman class is 3.9. Their average total SAT score is 1850 and their average composite ACT score is 27. The accepted honors students are even more impressive, with an average high school GPA of 4.3.

"Prospective students applied to us in record numbers this year, and I am delighted to say that they are the best freshmen class to have been admitted during my 30-plus years at the university," said Director of Admissions Janice Finney. "I am very excited to welcome such an outstanding group to campus. They will make a great addition to our Seminole family!"

A typical member of the Class of 2015 took five years of math and four and a half years each of English, natural science and social science while in high school. They also have had three and a half years of a foreign language. Hailing from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and more than 125 countries, 89 percent of this year's accepted students have taken advanced classes.

"Most of our new freshmen will already have college credit when they arrive on campus, so they will be able to take full advantage of our vast resources and opportunities, such as double majors, undergraduate research collaborations, studying abroad, civic engagement and entrepreneurship," said Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Garnett S. Stokes. "It will be exciting to watch how the Class of 2015 engages with our faculty, inspires our student body and contributes to the legacy of Florida State."

The students' top declared majors include biological science, business, political science, engineering and psychology.

In line with national trends, women continue to outnumber men on the FSU campus, with 58.6 percent of accepted students being female and 41.4 percent male.

It would be great to be a young man (again) at Florida State these days. ;)

Pretty cool stats :)

In theory, GPA will keep increasing and test scores in relation as high schools adopt honors program, have more AP classes available, etc. Soon enough, colleges will calculate h.s honors classes, literally honors classes or AP, as being no different from what we calculate now for a normal class.
Guys, we’re moving forward!
On a second thought, never mind we have budget cuts in education causing more inequalities between schools.
