2011 Going off their waitlist

This will be a list of colleges that has started to take kids off their waitlist. Yes, it does happen! It's a list only; please refrain from all other discussion on this thread. I include last year's list below. It will officially start on May 1st. Once you start this year's list (verified), be sure to copy the list and keep it alphabetical. GL

thanks great thread! It will be interesting to see yields this year as it seems kids have applied to more schools this year than ever. I bet we see a lot of action on the waitlists.

Bump

I’m really hoping for Northwestern to come through. Does anyone know how many students they waitlist?

Northwestern requires you to send in a card to decline (or accept). That means its knowledge of student applicant status will be delayed, due to mailing time, mail processing time, and perhaps verification time of those whose notifications they don’t receive.

^^^Do not understand your comment, Northwestern is no different than any other school with their procedure.

Some universities have the students accept/decline on line, which may give them a tad more lead time in making the call as to when/if to go to their WL.

What about UPenn or Emory??

No school is going to follow up with any student who didn’t respond. Schools like NU have enough WL students to fill their whole class.

It also gives them real-time yield ratio data (assuming the acceptance or rejections goes directly into a database). Quite a few students are on multiple waitlists and the school that calls first gets that student.

What about lost or misdirected mail?
