HelloImChelsea, great name (my name is chelsea too )

Honestly, I think it is very much worth pursuing Scripps if it is something you want. REmember, YOU are going to college, not her. I have yet to find a parent who isn’t happy with the social, academic, and future prospectives provided by the college for its students. What is it that she does not like about it?

Disneyskater3,

Hmmm, things I don’t like. I remember when I was looking at the college, and my tour guide said she couldn’t think of anything, and I cried BS, but after 3 years there, going on 4, I can honestly say there isn’t something that I don’t like. As for things I might tweak, they are silly things. I would like non-first year move in to be a day or two earlier than it is to allow for getting settled in your room better. I am psych major, and there is a few things I would like to adjust within the apartment, but nothing majorly detrimental. What major are you looking into?

Chelsflys: My mom doesn’t like that Scripps is in California. She wants me to either stay in my home state of Missouri or attend college in Michigan (we have family there). I have decided to apply early action to Hope College to make her happy, but Scripps is still my first choice.

Just apply. Once you get an offer your mom may be more open to considering Scripps. Meanwhile, try to get any brochures or articles you can find on the college and leave them around the house I have a friend who went to Scripps years ago (she was from Missouri too) and her dad finally agreed to it only because he liked the idea of it being a women’s college. In your discussions with your mom, emphasize things like safety (they have a rigid visitor policy), sisterhood, etcetera. Good luck!

Scripps does not have a rigid visitor policy… The biggest rule is that you aren’t supposed to have someone stay with you for more than 3 nights in a row. I assume to prevent people (like boyfriends from one of the other colleges) de facto moving in with you.

WhatIsNormal: I got a 27 superscore on the ACT. I got a 25 in science, 23 in math, 26 in reading and 34 in English. The problem is that they’re from 3 different sittings. I emailed my regional admissions counselor and she said that they won’t superscore, but they’ll consider the highest score in each sub-section. Do many people from Missouri apply to Scripps? I’m also from the southwest part - not STL or KC.
