2011 January SAT: Math

zkap, I’m just hoping for 2000+ which seems facile as I, so far have gotten no CR/WR questions wrong out of the ones which have been discussed. My ideal score is 2250 for now. My results will reaffirm/force me to change my expectations.

I was aiming for a 2400, but now I’m aiming for 2340 due to stupid CR

Well, I guess we’ll have to wait for someone who knows what it is.

I’m…sorry? haha
I feel like a lot of people on here overestimate their scores. Every time testing comes around and everyone discusses these questions or how they felt about the test in general, I feel so small. But once the results come out, I realize I actually scored higher than a lot of the people who thought they’d do really well. Maybe I have an inferiority complex :P

As for the 16, I really wish I remembered the question.
I can even remember that it was at the bottom left hand corner of the back side of a page. Was it a geometry problem? With triangles?

haha little penguin, no you are exactly right, people who are aiming for 2400 usually just set up for disappointment and end up 400 lower, everyone is wrapped so tight, i would like to get 2150+ but who knows i’ll get wjat I get, I just want to understand my placement based on the right answers

the only 16 i can recall is
that one just mentioned:

x+y = z
and z = 8

find x+y+z

did we get that the area of the triangle w perimeter 30 with sides x, x+7, x+8 equals 30 also

That was probably also experimental…?

No I don’t think it was experimental. I had that problem.
And yes area is also 30

Math exp = knitting I believe

There are 5 math sections at least given out in total I had four and I heard there was a question with the first 98 terms or something that I didn’t have

I know for a fact that I had an experimental math section and I also know that I had a math problem about knitting. I also know that there are some people saying that they didn’t have any knitting problem thus allowing me to conclude the knitting section = experimental math section.

does anyone know around what score i can get with 3 wrong and 8 omitted…im shooting for 650

around 630-650 i believe…
@thesos yeah i had CR experimental and never got a problem about knitting. exp one was defintely knitting one…

Hey, is it me or are the Blue Book practice tests way harder than the real thing? I usually almost always missed 3-4 per test for math alone but in the two times I’ve taken the real SAT, the math sections seem to be much easier. Anyone else feel this way too?

I took the first blue book test 3 weeks ago and got 2100 with around 750 for CR/WR, but the math killed me with a 630. This time around I’m sure I got like 4 wrong and 5-7 omitted at least. The fact that I chose to omit questions rather than answer I hope raises me to at least a 650 from my practice. This really sucks because even if I get my ideal 2250 and 800 on two sections, if I get a 650 in math, I feel like I’m going to have to retake it again because I don’t want colleges to see how weak I am at the SAT math. I can do anything any of my teachers have ever taught and do it better than anyone in the class, but I just can’t apply it SAT style.

did anyone get a last question on the math to be a function problem? They gave you something likje g(b)=f(X) and f(x)= b or something likje that and they gave you a chart. this was the LAST question on one of the math sections,

and then another problem to be if side of cube is 12 then how many cirlces with radius 3 can fit inside? i think this section migh t have been experimental then…

That must have been experimental; I didn’t have either of those questions.

I didn’t have those questions either.

So what score range am I looking at with -2 or -3? Higher than 700 right?
