2011 January SAT: Writing Section

I asked this before but I didn’t get an answer so sorry if this is annoying…but for my essay I realized I only had time to write 2 body paragraphs but I forgot to change my thesis in the first paragraph, which mentions three people. Besides for that I thought my essay was pretty good…no chance at getting a 12?

isn’t this the writing one?

the last finding error one had a error in conciousness , right? because it should be conscienctious

yvettec i did the SAME thing. i had about 30 seconds left and i just quickly erased my topic sentence that included a 3rd example. lol

So section 4 (the first of the consecutive writing passages) experimental…?

@debater - you don’t get docked. but there seems to be a correlation between length of the essay and score. but there have been tons of people who have received 6s with shorter essays.

^Yeah, I believe so.

So just to ask again

The “I remember my walk to the house” was in the experimental?

Does anyone remember the girls and bicycle questions?

What if we have like a 3 sentence conclusion because our body paragraphs took up all the space?

If the 3 sentence conclusion is good then it should be fine. I used 3 sentences on four lines and I KNOW that it was short but still strong.

was number 28 E

i didn’t have the walk to house passage so i’m assuming that might have been your experimental…and yup i had the girl bike questions

Ack… It just repeated my point.

9 essay maybe then…

I had a one sentence conclusion I think. NO room… =[

@VIOLIN was your first q in section 4? I am hoping that was experimental. and if you took up all the space, you should be good.
what’s the average writing score for 1.5 pages of essay writing??

People said it was in the experimental…

But I thought it was the real one, I hope that it was in the experimental. :P

I wrote about the reformation period (utopias and Horace mann) and a personal experience?

What do you think about them?

Yeah another friend of mine wrote about the reformation period. Seems like a good example.
I wrote about Temple Grandin and Rick O’Barry. I watched Temple Grandin’s biopic and The Cove (a documentary featuring Rick O’Barry), and I love both of them so I think I went a little overboard…

your examples seem pretty effective. yeah im confused by this experimental thing.
1.5 pgs of writing =?? score

Hi everyone,

The January 2011 SAT is still under embargo, and to my knowledge the embargo has not yet been lifted. You are NOT supposed to discuss the test until the embargo is lifted. The College Board frowns on discussion of the test until the the results are out (around February 9) and could conceivably invalidate the scores of those taking the test.

As I understand it, the embargo was instituted to prevent people in different time zones from learning something valuable about the test prior to taking it. What about those taking test on Sunday - do they get a different version of the test?

And if you think the embargo has been lifted by now (4:00 pm EST on 1/22), what is your verifiable source?

Thanks.

i wrote about the reformation period too! i contrasted noyes’ oneida community with the abolitionist movement…how one is idealistic while the other one is practical

ldwendy it lifts on nooon of the test day
