well, i remember i was left with three choices possibility, familiarity and anxiety. i thought it was possibility but i found nothing from passage 2 that directly supported it

oh the answer was probably possibility … I referred to the last part of the last sentence of passage 2… arrg can’t remember it…

do you remember the context of perfidy??
so far, i only have the mistake of propitiate on sentence completion!!

Aunt

Transition : General to specific
(I agree but I cant remember exactly “general to specific”, I put his perepective to his wife’s grandmother?)

Relationship of his wife and wife’aunt have once been : confratertanal?
(I dis agree cuz the line indicate that his think his wife’s aunt as very powerful cuz his wife tell about her clash with her aunt . so i think mutual oppressive though now confraternal relationship, once they are mutual oppressive)

Building

why too cost? the main idea is not this , though i cant clearly remember that is not correct.

VOCAB
perfidy is not correct cuz i think loner . perfidy dun make sense.

Im quite sure the answer was loner and not perfidy…loners enjoy being alone while perfidy means to cheat

What question is the perfidy one?can’t remember…

VOCAB
pardon
incorporate
aplomb
propitiate
opacity
licentious
aprophos-anguish
critical-physical
auspicious
fortitude-inspired
noxious (I choose politically “tractable”: the art is pro-Stalin)
antecedent
impasse
affable-craven (agreed, 'cause the “magnanimous” choice does not clearly indicate the “friendly air”)
benefit-flourish
commendable (dont remember this one…)
perfidy (dont remember this one…)

Grandma
- irony: suspicion is usually negative
- paradise: never experienced before
- forceful and direct
- gentle (the context: he wanted to said something gentle cause he knew that “his future depends on this”)
- half hearted humor vs self mocking (i chose halfhearted humor but i know it’s wrong…)
- confrontational relationship
- transition: general to specific (from the whole scene to just 2 women)
- expecting visibly aging
- intense pleasure
- laughter: living thing

Short pair: identity
- sense of identity of both authors: conflicted vs integrated
- village: stable environment
- difference between the 2 authors: the author 2 views we can shape identity
- the author 2 views “the world beyond” in passage 1: opportunity

Italian folklore
- catalog: variety of experience
- one passage serves to evoke the author’s state of mind in a period
- parallels between folklore and real life
- frog: lowly appearance

Building
- the unsightly things
- which statement would discredit: they lived in unsafe flimsy houses in past
- “organism”: timeless and comprehensive entity
- estrange from society
- it comes at too great cost
- “design life”: conscious action

Monarch butterfly
- painstaking nature of an endeavour
- “anyone”: comprehensive view of skepticism
- author 1 responds: her conclusion is based on observational data
- author 2 views butterfly’s route as fortuitous
- open = unobstructed

Bearbox.
For both the aunt one and the building, I put the same answers as you…
But are u sure of these answers?? I dont want my hopes high lol…

For the self mocking vs half-hearted humor, I actually put reluctant acceptance. She said something like “We’re showing off for you today. Without my stick I can’t walk and the other lady has false teeth” or something like that. Since she said something about the other lady as well, doesn’t that mean it wasn’t just self-mocking but also mocking her? And wasn’t she reluctantly accepting the fact that she is older than she looks? Who else put reluctant acceptance?

The grandma one was a calamity for me.

Monarch butterfly
- painstaking nature of an endeavour
- “anyone”: comprehensive view of skepticism ( I dont remember but i think it is wrong)
- author 1 responds: her conclusion is based on observational data (i agree)
- author 2 views butterfly’s route as fortuitous (no i think instinct cuz auther2 says butterfly’s direction is not intended and he do not refer as fortuitous cuz they have something to go Mexico)
- open = unobstructed (i agree)
also i put - both agree : wind
- passage2’s attitude : dissmisive (cuz passage2’s auther think that passge1’s experiment is implemented by wrong observation)

Aunt
- confraternal ?? why (though overall realtionship is confrateranl, the problem’s question is that once have been and i can find fact that she once clash with her aunt and she tell this story to her husband so gregor think wife’s aunt is very strong)
- self-mock( i put humor but cuz half-hearted, humor is wrong …)
-transitio : gerneric to specific ( i agree but i dun remember exact sentence tell me what is exact sentence i just remember that his perspective to wife’s grandmather.)

-6 in cr already 3’vocab 3 passages. I wonder how the curve of this test will be. How many wrong can still get you a 650?

@bearbox: can you please tell me 2 choices of the question confrontational and what??? was that confratertanal and other choice is oppressive?Thank you!!

The perfidy question went something like this ( i think)
while some people enjoy being with others, some people are certainly _____ .
loners should be the answer and not perfidy

And does anyone remember the options for the relationship between the authors wife and her aunt?

@iamthebist

I agree with your speach.

realtionship between the quthors wife and her aunt
- mutual oprressive
-confraternal - nonchalant
-? , -?
but the question’s core is that have once not genernal so i think mutual opressive
cuz she told her husband the story that she clashed with her aunt.

Anyone tell me about that SC of last section’s last question : unwarranted award ~ in fact this attempt ~ i put disingenuous and cogent.

realtionship between the quthors wife and her aunt
- mutual oprressive
-confraternal - nonchalant

but the question’s core is that have once not genernal so i think mutual opressive
cuz she told her husband the story that she clashed with her aunt.

i agree with mutual oppressive…acutally it is hard to choose between mutual oprressiv and confrontational

I put confrontational for the relationship since it asked what did those lines suggest about the relationship they had. The lines clearly said they had a confrontational relationship. It was not about the present but about the past.

For the self mocking vs half hearted humor, I think it was self mocking since she had she cant walk for two feel without her cane and her sis cant see without her glasses or something like that.
