2011 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

Hey all, just wondering if it is pretty much time to give up on Columbia (Integrated) or does anyone know if they still have some more invites to send out.

Also, anyone have any luck making alternate arrangements with Weill?

@bashibazouk did you call them and ask? also, do you know when we should give up? thanks!

eee i feel so popular. thanks for the well wishes, guys! i called to talk to harvard bbs peepz, yes, and the coordinator i spoke to said that if we don’t receive anything in the next couple of weeks, then we should assume that we are not admitted.

@bcbc8c

TETRAD is really done? … :(

Anyone heard from Harvard Engineering Sciences ( bioengineering)?

Ugh. Ditto. Bring an umbrella. And rainboots, good for wading through today’s slush puddles!

Sadness about TETRAD. Called and confirmed that bcbc8c is correct.

@Emily2007

Ugh, I know, I wore Uggs today because it was snowing when I left for work. Did NOT know it was going to rain later in the day. Whooooops.

Sorry to everyone who wasn’t contacted by TETRAD. I didn’t apply, but it sounds like it was a super popular program.

I am glad that I’m not the only one stuck in the nasty Boston weather today. I am dreading leaving my lab and venturing out into the slushy mess!

got an invite email from U.Chicago yesterday, it was my first and probably last at this point.

i guess TETRAD is done… i am assuming UCB MCB is done as well…anyone?

anyone hear from Stanford Biosciences Genetics? I saw one or two on the grad cafe…

Has anyone heard back from Brown Pathobiology? Haven’t even heard of anyone who applied.

I just got invites to BU Molecular Medicine (Feb 14) and Minnesota Integrative Bio/Pathology.

I’ve actually just learned that they extended approx. 80 interview offers this year. For a target class size of ~28, my guess (and I emphasize that this is just my guess) is that roughly 60 interviewees will be admitted.

Just got a call from WashU St. Louis CMB for an interview Feb 24, 25.

@thatguy027:

I’ve also heard of only one or two for Stanford Genetics…Keeping my hopes up, but also freaking out.
Also, I haven’t seen anything about Berkeley…I’m waiting on that one too.

@Protein11

I also applied for Brown pathobiology and haven’t heard back, so if we’re rejected by non-response, at least we’re together! I’m pretty sure they haven’t sent out anything yet based on current and past grad cafe results. Good luck.

Thanks so much for the updated info!
If I can bother you for more info, what are interviews like? Do you get grilled? Or do they more want to tell you about their work? As you can tell, I am totally nervous! I want to go to UCSF so badly!

Those waiting for harvard bbs, they said to me that haven’t finished admission decisions yet… There is still hope!!
Ps: my application to duke will be reviewed this Thursday… Fingers crossed!

havnt posted yet but thought i would start now…

I applied to biophysics/physics programs at these schools: Berkeley, Wake Forest, Stanford, Harvard, Florida State, U. of Chicago, University of Washington, U of Illinois UC, Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan and UC Davis.

So far i have gotten interviews at Ohio State, Florida State and U of Illinois. I got rejected by Berkeley

Does anyone know anything about the other schools as far as interviews/acceptances go?

Has anyone received any notification from Emory for biological and biomedical sciences molecular genetics track or Maryland at Baltimore for molecular medicine??? I’ve only heard back from one program (OHSU) just on Sunday, as of yet… I’m trying to keep from calling because I know the admins are swapped with calls and emails…

has anyone else heard from stanford cancer bio? if so, by email or mail? Thanks!
