Nope, I activated my netid yet haven't confirmed acceptance yet...haven't even decided yet actually =S Definitely no transaction, though I didn't even know it was that... I assumed I needed to to get more info on Financial aid, courses, accomodation etc.

thanks.

yeah...i just realized its working now before it wasnt and someone told me you needed to pay first.

Did anyone NOT get any financial aid information along with their acceptance package?

i didn't, but probably because i didn't apply for any :)

My D has not received her decision yet, but tried to activate the Net ID. It would not activate. Does this mean she didn't get in?

^ I did the same thing. It did not work. It is not looking good :(

You can't activate the Net ID if you haven't received your decision yet because on your acceptance letter, it includes the NYU ID, which you need to activate your homepage. So obviously, anyone who hasn't received their decision yet wouldn't be able to activate the Net ID. This doesn't mean that she didn't get in though, so don't worry.

Isn't the NYU ID the same as the application ID that they give you in one of the emails? I thought it was.

venus.ajar I so hope you're right. D tried to activate it using the same ID that NYU gave her after they received the application. Do you know if the ID on the acceptance letter is different than the one they gave to applicants?

Regardless of that, couldn't you use your SS to find out?

I just went to that link and put in SS, d/of/b, and the message came back that that function is only available to the NYU community, something like that. It does not sound good.

No, the NetID isn't the same application ID. And you can't use your social security until you put in your NYU ID. The NYU ID is something like this: N*********.

The application Id is in the same format (N*********). Who knows.

huh.. that's strange. Mine was different.

Well, all I can say is just wait for the letter (it'll come soon) and good luck.

i'm pretty sure the NetID is the same as the Application ID b/c they have the same formats... N********.

Thanks venus.ajar. The number they gave my D for her application also starts with N, which hopefully means nothing. We'll just have to await tomorrow's mail.

i dont think the ss# option works. i tried several times logging in with my ss# and it didn't work but the ID did.

HousePetMarla: which ID did you use? (from your acceptance letter, or one NYU gave you previously?)

hmm maybe I'm thinking of another ID?
I applied common app, so I didn't get the NYU ID until my acceptance letter came.
