2011 SAT March: Writing

oh thank god.
i messed up so much on the e-books writing section.
i got like 6 no errors… plus i had to go pee really bad.

the cars one was quite easy though.

Jesus, that essay…My jaw dropped and hand started shaking when I read it. It took me too long to compose myself and only got a page and a half. I think it was decent though hoping for 8>

OKAY WHAT WAS THE ESSAY TOPIC AGAIN?

I think I did it wrong…

the first car question was really hard…

I found the essay to be hilarious because I live at the jersey shore… so I had PLENTY personal experience for this one

seriously.
I’ve never gotten such a ridiculous essay question. Hope they are lenient about it?
Nothing would go through my head since I don’t watch reality shows… I only vaguely know Jersey Shore and it’s controversy with Italian-Americans so I chose that.

I barely finished with some lame connection to asian-american stereotypes and kung-fu movies.

I’m expecting an 8 but will be very happy if I get above that.

hannah did you have a math experimental? if not do you remember a question like the one ive been talking about since page 1?

ahh whats the first car question? someone pleease tell me

Essay topic - pick a stance on whether reality television is beneficial or detrimental to society

The first car question was what to do with the sentence comparing used cars and new cars. I said delete, because nothing in the essay had to do with new cars

How can I tell what experimental I got. And for the essay I somehow connected the great gatsby, though it really could have been any work of literature and then my second example was a made up film.

how would a piece of literature relate to reality tv shows?

Are you guys serious for the essay?

I misread the question, I thought it referred to all forms of entertainment…

I talked about American Idol (how it can push people to strive towards better singing skills) and The Biggest Loser(how it influences people to become healthier). Wasn’t that hard from what I thought.

It was reality entertainment, not reality television. Although, reality entertainment includes reality television.

I spoke about German propaganda shows in the 1930s to show the influence entertainment has on society, and brave new world, the “feelies”, at how reality programming maintained a caste system…so it could work.

I was making a connection to all forms of entertainment, in particular those where one gets heavily involved in other people’s lives. And yes, the more I talk about it, the more it seems off topic, lol.

This is one of those moments when I wish I actually watched TV. I had such a hard time with the prompt. I ended up talking about Jacob Riis and how any form of media cannot capture reality objectively. I kinda want to cry right now.

dunno. I don’t watch tv at all so it was hard for me. I have no interest in reality tv shows…
:(

Same, my theme was that producers and stuff create their own reality, and it could be a false one.
