2011 Summer Applicants/Accepted!

I just wanted to get a thread started for all the 2011 Summer Accepted or Applying...Nice to know where we all stand..

My D applied 9/29. Received acceptance info on Myucf 11/5 (5 wk turnaround) however we mailed in a reactivation form to change from Fall to Summer term. Rec'd her letter of acceptance in the mail on 11/12/10

Stats:
UW GPA 3.2
Weighted GPA: 3.9
SAT 1490/2400
ACT: 23
Letters of Recommendation: Two
Volunteer Hours (43)
Swim Team, Web reporter, Water Polo
In honors, AP classes
Residence: In State

Has anyone else applied for summer, gotten accepted, signed up for orientation, etc?

Nice thread … still waiting… might do the reactivation form too though

Wondering on my chances of getting in.

I had a very low GPA my first two years of high school, I was having a variety of troubles…They were all in the 2.0-2.5 range. I explained what happend in my essay and how I have improved. Last year I began my crawl to improvment with a 3.3 weighted GPA and started taking AP classes. This year I have a 4.1 weighted for the first semester and I am taking two AP classes and other hard classes like Honors Physics and such. All of it appears on my transcripts.

Two reccomendations so far, one counselor (reccomendation form) very high marks, one from a teacher. Hoping to get one more. My counselor focused on my improvment.

E.C. are varsity volleyball, varsity football, robotics club, film club and I have held a job. Would have done more clubs, but hopefully they know how much time a sport consumes…especially football.

CR and math combine sat score was a 1170

Applied for the summer of course. Hopefully they notice my strong upward trend (crap to AP :D) If there is a time in the world decides to show me that anything is possible now would be the best.

I also have Florida Prepaid, not sure if that makes a difference with them knowing that I can pay for 4 years worth no problem.

Deferred:
2.8 weighted GPA (messed up Freshman year)
SAT: 1180/1830 (retook it in November, results come next week)
ACT: 27 (with writing)

It’s a little ironic that they tell me they want my next semester scores today, because its the last day of school for me this trimester (private schools). I believe my GPA for this trimester will end up around 3.7/4, so hopefully that will get me in.

HurricaneKid, since we are in the same boat GPA wise I was wondering how many recommendations did you have? Also what about your EC’s? Also when did you submit you application?

2 letters from teachers, and 1 from my college advisor.

ECs: Student legislature for 3 years (including cabinet position), theater for 2 years (acting and directing), Journalism for 3 years (magazine and web news writer, panelist, co-host and eventually producer of school radio show) and 135+ service hours. There are more, but those are the biggest ones. I’m to tired to remember the rest.

I submitted my application probably around the beginning of October, but they didn’t get my transcript until the second half of the month.

Alright, thanks! Looks like I have a very solid shot. You might have a lot mreo clubs but hopefully my sports count a good bit because I had very little time to do any clubs.

Honestly, don’t bust your ass and join all those clubs. Focus on your GPA and test scores more. That’s what UCF look at. They have way too many applicants so they tend to look at GPA/SAT/ACT more than anything.

Got my an update last week about the decesion being deffered until I can provide more competetive SAT results. (Math and writing weren’t the best) Does that mean that if I can bring them up I’ve got a pretty good chance of getting in? I don’t want to keep retaking it for no reason. I just retook the SAT and have a really good feeling about it actually.

^
Deferring is good. It means they see potential in you. But did you say your CR and M score for the SAT was 1170? I’m confused as to why they deferred you because of your scores and not GPA… especially when you’re applying for summer term, as well.

Wait, scratch that. I was reading your other posts and you mentioned an SAT score of 1210, CR and M combined. Now THAT doesn’t make sense.

I have a couple updates. I bumped my GPA up from a 2.82 to a 2.95 (my trimester GPA was a 4.03) and my new SAT scores are 1230/1930. Anyone mind chancing me?

Not too sure myself. My math and writing weren’t too hot, but I retook it and hopefully it will come back better. At least I know I still have hope even with the sorry GPA. This is grueling as hell waiting for all these test scores and hoping that I score higher. Idk how long they will wait around for me to score better haha.

can someone chance me please?
