2011 UC Transfer Admission Decisions

Major: Psych
GPA: 3.68
IGETC: yes
TAP: no
TAG: yes to UCSD and UCI

Accepted: UCD, UCI, UCSD, UCSB, UCLA
Rejected: UCB

UCB was one of my last choices(not a norcal person, HATE the weather) so it doesn’t matter to me

Deciding between UCLA and UCSD ahh

hmmm I was denied at UCSD and still waiting for UCSB. I have a tag for UCSB but is it possible to be accepted into the school but denied into your major??
Major: Environmental studies, B.A.
I have to let SLO know today if I accept or deny their offer. This is my second choice school. Do I just accept for the meantime and still wait on SB?

I need help! and congradulations to everyone who has been admitted into their school of choice or happy with their selection! We all worked so hard!

@jaynami: First, Berkeley is only northern California to you weirdos down south. It’s central California to anyone who actually lives in the north state (or owns a map). Second, we have absolutely every kind of weather a person could want up here. Don’t lump us all in with the bay area, please. Bad for tourism. :P

@jenjennn20: SB is your first choice and SLO is your second? Do you plan to go directly to grad school? Anyway you can SIR to SLO and wait to hear from SB; then if you get into SB, you withdraw your SIR from SLO and SIR to SB. You’ll lose your tuition deposit at SLO but it’s probably worth the risk to make sure you don’t end up missing out on both schools.

@bakemaster: Thank you for the advice! I guess that is what I am going to have to do. Wish SB could stick to their promise and get back to everyone still pending by today! Yeah my first choice is SB and second is between SLO or SDSU, but leaning towards SLO. SLO has been the school I wanted to go to until I did some heavy research on SB’s program. I love SLO and I think it is a good balance for me socially, but the program doesn’t even compare to SB’s. I don’t know how SLO or SDSU compare to eachother in their programs.
I haven’t made up my mind yet on grad school.

This is so awesome. I failed out of high school and now I am going to Berkeley!

@BerkeleyOrBust: I worked my *** off in high school and got rejected by the top UCs. Now, with probably less work (I didn’t do many ECs, no more SATs/ACT, etc.) I got into Berkeley!

This IS awesome.

I still haven’t received a response from UCSB and it’s 02-May. Is it safe to say that I’ve been rejected already or should I call an Admissions Officer?

Applied: UCR, UCSD, UCI and UCLA
Accepted: UCR, UCSD, UCI and UCLA
Major: Anthropology
GPA: 4.0

Will be attending UCI… I just can’t get over the school. It feels exactly like what I would be if I were a university instead of a human lol.

I’ve just contacted UCSB and the admissions officer said there are still about 1500 transfer applications to go and estimates the decision process to be done by Friday.

Applied: UCR, UCI, UCSB, UCLA, UCB
Accepted: UCR UCI UCSB UCLA
Deniiieeedd: UCB

Personal Statements: I was confident about them but not COMPLETELY satisfied. I’m very rarely satisfied with my writing but others who have read it said it was solid. They also got the kiss of approval from a Berkeley advisor. I wrote about my work experience for Prompt #1 and an obstacle I overcame for Prompt #2

Congrats everyone!

Also, I thought you forum freaks would be interested in this since we are doing it for free anyway! It’s a chance at a $250 scholarship for posting your stats. My cousin works for the company so its not a scam!

Received “Financial Aid: Financial Aid Document Needed” Email: Yes

For UCLA:
Received no pre-admission acceptance indicators (financial aid offers, etc).

I think it’s clear that my admission to Cal was based on my essays and work experience. The importance of essays, in particular, should not be underestimated. There’s a Berkeley video on YouTube that says that admissions tries to select an “interesting” group, not just the highest GPAs (as UCLA apparently does).

nick- isnt UCLA holistic in their admissions as well?
