… does that mean rest of us are ****ed? ;<
any Stern waitlists?

:[ Oh no…

I read that from waitlist threads from last year.

They’re putting waitlistees into LSP?!

^
WHAT?!
Where did you hear that?!
I’m sure that’s not for Stern waitlistees tho, since Stern isn’t part of LSP…

Rbo said they offered him a spot in lsp.

well
I honestly dont think Stern waitlist is the same…

if so, then there is no point even on the Stern waitlist, i’d go to Berkeley over LSP anyday…

Also, I was wait listed for BPE, if I get in, do you think I can still do BPE, or are they gana move to me another major?
Do I only get to replace BPE students who doesn’t want to go to Stern or do I get to place everyone? this is soo confusing!!!

I’m depressed now.

hi this is for forzworn, im a tansferring sophomore from virginia tech, i haven’t heard from nyu yet, but i did get into university of richmond and i really want to go there but i need a good financial aid packet, which urichmond hasn’t processed yet. can you tell me why you choose richmond and if they’re helpful with financial aid? and it seems that a lot of people have heard from nyu already, does anybody know when i should expect the decision by?

@mercat im actually going to BU because i got off the WL there and from the looks of it NYU won’t be giving me good news so I’m finally content with my choice. Idk how they are with fin aid I got nothing at all, and idk if it’d be different for a transfer student either. I liked URich cuz they had a BEAUTIFUL campus, completely polar opposite of NYU however I was never really a huge fan of the fact that URich really came off to me as being a school there they hold your hand through all four years and such. Small classes and contact with your profs are definitely pluses though so Richmond would definitely be a good choice, gl to you and the rest of you for NYU!

What do u guys mean it seems like many have been accepted thru the wl already? Only one person on cc so far and s/he got in for lsp. Are we all going to just give up? I’m kinda hopeless about it too, though. They locked in way more ppl thru TWO rounds of ED this year.

By the way, the numbers just don’t add up. From last year’s thread:

Fall 2008
Number of qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list… 1,864
Number accepting a place on the waiting list … 1,037
Number of wait-listed students admitted …543
Percent of Wait List Admitted 52.4%
Total Class Size… 4467
Percent of Class from Wait List 12.2%

According to the Waitlist FAQ, though, 7% of the 42k applicants were offered a place on the WL, which means about 2,940. That’s a LOT. Even if roughly 500 kids are admitted this year, that would be only around 16%… And I don’t even think they’re going to accept 500 since ED2 locked in a bunch of kids.

Crap. I think I’ve completely lost hope already.

@forzworn
thanks for responding! and i think youre right about urichmond holding your hand all the way through, but i was gonna say that this is so weird because i also got into BU recently, and I would love to go there over richmond but i figured i would get better fin aid from richmond because i live in virginia. im surprised richmond didn’t offer you anything because they pride themselves on giving good fin aid packages, but i think a lot of colleges say that. so do you know if BU is any better? because i would have to win the lottery to go there and pay full tuition. and yeah i really would like to get into nyu, bu is wonderful i hope you enjoy it!

AH. Has no one else heard anything back yet?!

I think no one has heard yet. Rbo is probably a ■■■■■. S/he said she got into Barnard, Harvard, and UMich… Jeez.

Barnard and Umich I could believe…
If you got into Harvard, I highly doubt you’ll be waitlisted for NYU, CAS especially…

S just got a message that he’s off the waitlist, but in LSP. (While it’s nice they finally showed the love, more or less, it doesn’t matter as he has already SIRed to a school that’s a better match.)

@ccm when/what time during the day? Email or phonecall? I’m so scared! Congrats to your son!

@ccm, may we know his stats? :)

Timestamp on the email is 8:06 (Pacific Daylight Time). They actually sent two e-mails – one incorrectly stated that he was accepted in an LSP study-abroad program and the second apologized and corrected that, and said he was accepted in LSP in NYC. Thanks for the congrats! Sorry, I’m not comfortable sharing his stats (S might chime in with that info), but they were competitive with those who already got accepted.
