depending on what major, but yeah a 3.8 gives you a very good chance

Has anyone been accepted or denied?

I have not heard back yet. Was hoping it would happen last week, feeling better about hearing this week.

I’m stressing though because I’m not sure that I will get in considering I have two Ws for classes I dropped freshman year. On the phone the admissions person said that my gpa was 3.84 so hopefully that is the case. Can anyone speak to whether or not they will take into account Ws if they do not affect GPA?

I called the UG admissions office this morning, and was informed that decisions will go out in late November. As one poster mentioned before, there was a large volume of transfer applicants this cycle. She also told me that they will probably try to release decisions before Thanksgiving. Just a couple more weeks…

They might be saying late November so in case some students don’t hear back this week they don’t get a lot of frantic calls and such. This is just a guess, I really have no idea how they work.

I called a branch of the admissions (not Austin’s office) and the guy told me that decisions have already started to come out and will continue to come out until mid December (I’m guessing for those who do not yet have 30 completed hours).

Can y’all please chance me!

Im a third semester student at The UH business school applying to UT Economics or UGS.

My GPA is 3.41 due to an unfortunate C in Calculus 2 last semester. Other than that I have a majority A’s with some B’s last semester.

Im involved in and won a couple of awards for the UH forensics (Debate)
Involved in an emerging leaders program for student government and the UH finance association.

Do you guys think I have a good shot at getting into any of my majors for January?
Will transferring from a 4-year university helpe be competitive with a low GPA?

And do yall think they will take into account that I got a C in a fairly hard class?

@elizabeth45

Thank you for passing along the info. I’ll guess that those that have been admitted are of a specific college at UT. I applied to COLA- Economics, second choice CSN- Mathematics.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried to run an IDA audit recently through UT Direct? I noticed that they have my transcripts uploaded into their registar system. I was able to get into the Quest module as well. I’m probably looking into this too much.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Yes, I took a look at it when you mentioned it before. It looked like it was to see what courses transferred/what courses you needed (let me know if I’m wrong), so I didn’t bother logging in anything.

I went to Austin to speak with a nursing adviser and she printed a list of all the courses I’ve completed as well as which courses I needed - so I just didn’t bother with the IDA.

I needed to drop a class last semester, but I was worried it would hurt my chances so I called the Austin Admissions office to ask. “No dear, we rocognize that there are legitimate reasons to drop a class, so we don’t consider W’s.” was the answer I got.

Now I didn’t think about making a distinction between mere W’s, and those that count against your six drops.

I suppose since others are being so open with their info I will too. I’ve applied to CNS and COLA, for Biochemistry and Philosophy, respectively.

3.667 GPA on 72 hours. Straight A’s in science and in 3 writing-intensive courses. A in Cal 1 with Cal 2 in progress. Expecting a B, maybe an A. No grades lower than B.

Tri-Beta biology honors society, and a damn fine letter of recommendation from a UH / HCC research scientist. I’ve always gotten high marks on my writing, which is why those classes are a breeze for me. I wrote two essays I think will be outstanding. Now its in their hands. What do y’all think?

Alea iacta est

@elizabeth45

It’s always better to talk to a live person. The automated stuff isn’t always reliable. Communicating with a website has its limitations. Which brings me to a contradictory tangent about the IDA system.

I brought up the IDA topic because I’m hoping that ‘being in the system’ is a positive sign. I’m not referring to the IDA Planner, but the full degree audit system. I think it is reserved for admitted students as a self-help tool to track their degree completion progress. Maybe this is wishful thinking on my end. Do all potential applicants have their transcripts evaluated and uploaded into the registar system? I’m hoping that isn’t that case. Maybe we’re in pending status that points to an admit (fingers crossed)

COLA with a 3.7 and an almost flawless record in Math and Science? I think you have a fantastic chance. Math is a huge component of Economics, and you’ve proven that you can handle that curriculum.

As a student that is currently fighting to make a low A (and will likely get a B) in Trigonometry this semester, I am in awe that you’ve made an A Calc 1, and possibly in Calc 2. I doubt the Adcom is going to throw your application into the “reject” stack for a B in Calc 2. That might happen if you were an Engineering major. Those are tough courses! I’ll probably be taking Calc 1 next semester. To be modest, I’m a bit anxious about it.

@jjrp87 thanks for your response about the drops, that’s encouraging.

As for the IDA planner stuff I am not in the system, but I am also coming from an out of state school that isn’t going to have an exact equivalency with classes at UT so that might contribute to why there isn’t an audit that has been issued.

@bullsonparade

I submitted my app fairly early and live in Austin, ACC forwarded my transcripts electronically. The IDA fascination is probably a product of my wishful thinking. There are so many variables at play. :)

It looks like (according to last year’s thread) a lot of the decisions came out on the 16th. Praying that is the case - I don’t think I can stand much longer.:)

Hey guys. I will be transferring with 30 credits and a GPA as low as a 3.66 to as high as a 3.9. What do you think my chances are for CNS Biology and COLA Undeclared?

@ Salsatime - Looking back at last year’s thread, other people with similar majors and GPA got accepted.

Here’s the link:

Hey guys! I will be transferring from Baylor with 60-ish credits and a 3.92 gpa to CNS Nutrition. I haven’t taken many classes in the nutrition field. I was a math major at Baylor so most of my courses were math related. Do I have a chance of acceptance?

@Ferrana - That GPA with that many math courses would be very competitive even for the business school, so it seems like a lock for CNS.

Just checked my status and I got admitted!
