2012-2013 Decision Thread!

Well that’s vague. I wouldn’t worry too much about it unless it influences ED or something for another school.

@thirrdplanet
I’m curious what exactly I said that made you think the conservatism here is “crazy”?

When I said that “more than half the cars with political stickers were supporting Mitt Romney”, I meant that it was probably around 60% Romney, 40% Obama (so technically, more than half). As for the Mitt Romney sign near Safeway, please remember that I’m 15-20 min. *south *of CC. I don’t live in the Downtown area, and like I said, the further south you get, the more conservative. To clarify, super giant political signs ANYWHERE are NOT commonplace. This was the only instance I saw of this; I simply thought it was worth noting. Concerning “a few billboards protesting things like abortion”, I really did mean only a few. As in, 2-3 in between Fountain and Denver (that’s more than 80 miles).

I’m very, VERY sorry if I gave you the impression that everyone here is anti-gay and anti-choice! I was simply trying to give you examples of the most conservative things you will ever see here on any given occasion. Hence the examples from the latest election. I would like to stress this is not a normal occurrence (unless, of course, it is election). Remember that I’ve lived here my whole life, so I can’t really think of any “typical” displays of conservatism that take place on an everyday basis because I have nowhere to compare Colorado to. Is there something in particular you’d like to know about?

I don’t know anyone who hates the students at CC. Even the few adults I know who actually ARE anti-gay anti-choice (I personally know very few people who fit this bill) view CC as a wonderful, prestigious college with intelligent, nice people. As far as I know, they have not been “haranguing” the CC students, lol.

Unfortunately, I don’t really know if there is a lot of interaction between the town and college. This past summer I went to an outdoor concert there. The Philharmonic was playing on the lawn. It was AWESOME…at least until my family had to leave because it started to rain -_-" I’m not sure if this counts as college-town interaction since it took place during the summer…

Like I said, I don’t live Downtown, I just live nearby. Asking a current student about college-town relationships would probably be your best bet.

Have you considered coming out for a visit? It might be a good idea to come out here and see for yourself what Colorado and CC are like :D

Ohhh I thought you meant over half the cars had signs for Romney! I was going to say, that is a lot.

I am definitely going to visit if I am accepted, which is not very probable :/

I applied EA and I live in norcal so hopefully I get a decision soon! :slight_smile: Fingers crossed!

I’m very strongly liberal so I think I’d fit in at most of the LAC in the states haha
I applied Nov 1 with the leadership app so I’d think I would’ve gotten a response by now :\ not sure what’s taking so long.
Would anyone who lives in Oregon let us know when they get their letters? I’m betting you guys will get them the soonest, being in the same state and all.

I applied early as well, and I just got a phone call today gauging my interest in Willamette, but he didn’t mention anything about about when admission decisions would be mailed out. Has anyone gotten one yet?

I live in Oregon but applied around the 15th so I will be of no help. I don’t understand why everyone is freaking out! They say the 12/15 for the results. That’s still 11 days.

I got my acceptance letter today!!! I also received a 22,000 merit based scholarship. Does anyone know if they will send another award with need based aid?

Figured I should post this to help anyone else out!

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I am above the stats[/li][/list]General Comments: I received a 22k per year academic leadership award. Is there anything higher than this for merit? Will I get more need aid? I qualify for it definitely. Also sorry if this is not at all formatted right.

Hahahahaha I was right the formatting is so off. I suck with computers.

Are scholarships that large common? What about for OOS?

I think oos is the same as in state since it is private. I have no idea if it is common or not but they are known for good aid. I wonder if there is anything larger than that.

Oh my gosh congrats!!!

man I wonder what this means for me…since I submitted 15 days before you and haven’t even heard back yet :</p>

Thank you! I was so surprised when I got the letter. It wasn’t even in a big envelope really so I wasn’t expecting it to be an acceptance. I wonder why it was sent so early! Oh well I am just happy. Other people should post when/if they get accepted!

@thirrdplanet
Wow, congrats! At the same time, I’m a bit jealous…I want my decision letter, lol! (They made a mistake and put my application on hold, so my decision letter doesn’t even get sent out until next Tuesday. Sigh So unfair!)

Your stats are incredible! Is Willamette your first choice?

I believe financial aid offers are made in March-April, but you might want to check on that to be sure.

Do you think it’s rude to call them and ask about my status? Seeing how its not even the 15 th yet I feel like it’d be an annoyance :/

I might have to call them about financial aid. With just merit, it would still be 32,000 a year which is too much for my family. I assume they award need aid because we already sent in the CSS profile.

Thanks! I wouldn’t say Willamette is my first choice, although I don’t really have one. It is a great school and it is a likely possibility I will end up their due to financial aid. At this point I am just happy I got in and I am going to schedule a visit hopefully for after winter break.

I am so surprised I am the only one that has their decision, at least on CC. How weird since I submitted for the Dec 1st deadline technically.

Thick envelope arrived today by mail from the Admissions office, with “YOU ARE WILLAMETTE” printed in giant letters on the front. My son isn’t home from school yet, but I’m guessing that’s not what they would print on a rejection envelope? They seem like such nice folks.

^ ditto
and, yes, it’s good news…

Thar’s exactly what my letter had on the front.
