2012-2013 Decision Thread!

Did anyone else get merit scholarships? If so, what amount per year?

Still waiting in Colorado! Nothing in mail today. Son did EA.

Received my acceptance today! I applied early action

I GOT IN!!! Omg hahahahhah
also got 22k, not sure if this is max they will give or not but I’m happy

My sons acceptance came today. We live in Colorado.

Merit award of $21,000. GPA unweighted 3.85/weighted 3.976
SAT superscored 1380/2070
Lots of extracurriculars, AP classes

Good luck to all who are still waiting.

Awesome!! I got 22k also. I just retook the ACT so I will probably call monday asking if I get my score up if they increase it at all. I kinda doubt they would though. I’m also going to ask about need aid because the merit amount doesn’t matter if I don’t get any more aid :(

I’m quite sure there would be need-based aid. I got 34 on my ACT so it’ll be very hard for me to increase that score for more merit.

What was your GPA? If it’s lower than mine, I might get more? If the same, for sure no since I got a 30.

its 4.0 uw and 4.35 ish w

I was accepted with 22,000 merit scholarship as well.

Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to University of Pittsburgh (and Honors Program) and Colorado School of Mines

I think that 22,000 is the max that they give out unfortunately.

@thirrdplanet, you should receive need-based financial aid as well. I wouldn’t suggest calling them about receiving an even larger merit scholarship considering 22,000 is already a very generous amount.

@ChrisPage: I’m an IB candidate as well! Woot woot IB LFYEEEE

Yeah looks like I was lucky to get 22k since I don’t have a 32 or 34 ACT. I wouldn’t be asking for more money, lol my intention is for need based aid. I don’t care if it is need or merit aid but I can’t go to Willamette or even consider it if I don’t get at least 10k more per year.

@spnlove: Writing my IB History Internal Assessment as we speak!

@thirrdplanet: Act score isn’t THAT significant of a factor for merit scholarships. 1 or 2 points won’t make a significant difference. Just make sure you sent in your CSS profile by December 1st for any need-based financial aid.

Mine is due in January hahah I’m actually kind of excited. It’s got to be better than writing tok paper

Totally didn’t submit CSS for an estimate so hopefully ill still get a fair amount of aid

My rough draft is due on Tuesday, final in January. But yeah, the EE absolutely sucked. Then the TOK Essay is next… Thank God I’m done with college apps.

[/ul]General Comments: Awarded the $22,000 per year merit scholarship too! Now to wait to hear back from all the other colleges I applied to…

At certain schools, 1 or 2 points DOES make that big of a difference. The whitman people told me with a 31 I could be considered for merit.

Well, nothing you can do about it now. So far at Willamette, an ACT of 30-34 all received a 22,000 merit scholarship, nothing more. I’m sure you’ll get financial aid, Willamette has a decently large endowment for how small it is.

Yeah I’m not worried about Willamette since I got the top amount. I am super surprised about that and happy! Hopefully I’ll get more. Ah it would be swell
