2012 April ACT General Discussion

What did you guys think? I thought science was ridiculously hard but other three were easy.

I thought science was very easy haha… all others were medium. Is there an embargo on the discussion like sats?

same I thought science was hard

I scored 32 on science last test. I’m expecting around 25 this time (guessed on last four)

how was the essay?

what did everyone get for the last question? i said it was who knows? maybe it wil start a trend
any other problems with english anyone? i though it was kinda of easy

Same, I thought they were all easy but science, which was so hard.

I thought everything was easy, but for science did not have enough time to finish; so I guessed the last three questions.

Damn, just looked at a grain curve, and for the first 3 pt in science, they take off 2 points forms score. So 3 wrong = -6 pt= 30 total.-_-

Where did you find that grain curve xmsamurai?

Good to know I’m not alone. Too much reading on science and not a lot of graph analysis.
When are we allowed to discuss the questions?

Not on this act . On the dec, feb, and oct acts 2-3 wrong was around a 33-34

I thought everything was going so well till I got to science and was like frick. Then on the essay I was so burnt out that I couldn’t think.

english and math were pretty easy. reading was very easy. science was very hard -_-

Sent from my SPH-D710 using CC

I might have not missed any in Reading

Science was sooo… HARD.

How do you grade them btw?

Perhaps I’m biased because the December ACT science was very hard, so I thought this one wasn’t bad? Or did we have different tests?

Reading passages included: something about past/future of family business, daguerreo types, something about plants losing cells or something, etc.

I hate to be the one to say this, but I actually thought it was all pretty easy. I haven’t taken the ACT before, so I might just have a really skewed outlook. I am not really concerned about my score on any section, I thought science was pretty simple compared to the harsh descriptons some of my friends gave of previous tests. I enjoyed the essay question as well, I had to answer practically the same question on a practice AP English 11 test a couple of weeks ago, which worked out well. Does anyone else have bad handwriting? I rushed the last five minutes of the essay to finish, I got caught up writing the body paragraphs, so I hope that doesn’t hurt too much.

Science includes: 4 students mixing stuff,PB graph,Eggs, different terrain…oh goodness its all coming back. Nooooooo

I won’t talk about the essay question or the questions in general, but here’s what I thought of the ACT. It was my first time taking it, so I hope I did well.

• English was ridiculously easy. There wasn’t really anything surprising, shocking, or tricky (in my opinion).

• Math was just like practice tests; it was steady-going until the last 4/5 or so of the section. Then the questions were significantly harder. I didn’t get to all of them; I had to guess on the last few because time was almost up.

• Reading questions were pretty easy, and I finished with around 5 minute left on the clock. Skim the passages if you start running low on time. You don’t necessarily need to read them completely to get the questions right.

• Science was dense, but manageable. I finished feeling pretty confident, but a lot of people were grumbling about it afterward. There was a lot of confusing jargon, but you were essentially just reading and interpreting the graphs/charts for all but one of the sections (which mostly relied on common sense/being able to skim for information).

Personally, I thought that the essay question was easy to write about.

(Also, I hope this is allowed. > n < I’ll delete immediately if it isn’t.)

I had a problem with english. On the fish farming one, when it stated that some advantages were decreased cost of transportation and increased yields, did you say you should change it to the shortened sentence? I couldn’t decided if the info was important or not.
And on the math, with the similar triangle perimeter ratios one, I got 13.33 but no options had decimals, so i did it the inverse way and got 40. What was that one?
But the science I had too many problems to count, lol, which sucks because I was banking on a 36 on that. I almost ran out of time.
