2012 Early decision discussion

Well, I just checked for the third time today, so I think I too shall be checking about three times per day. I also have had high levels of anxiety this past week.

I’m really nervous. I applied for Mechanical Engineering and have a 4.0 weighted but I only got a 25 on the ACT (32 math) and 1150 on the SAT.
Also in the top 10% of my class
I’m not sure how much extra curricular content alters your chances but I have 250+ hrs of community service with some leadership
I’m hoping that doing ED gives me some sort of advantage

don’t worry guys! it’s December tomorrow! we will know in just a few days…even though I also check my status at least once daily.

I called Cal Poly Admissions today and asked when early decision announcements would be out. I was told December 15th. So, I asked if they would be out by December 15th or would trickle out earlier. The admissions counselor said they would be out on December 15h. So, not sure if that is just something they are trained to say. Seems wierd since everyone else in prior years has started hearing the 1st Friday in December. I hope we aren’t in for 14 days of sleepless nights waiting…

@oeinbund
its December, that means even more stress and worrying because its that much closer!!!

I think they are just trained to say December 15th–at least that is what I am hoping. In the last 5 years at least, they have been out around the first week of December. I am hoping that people in the admissions office want to be done with it before the Winter break.

Does anyone know if there is a common time that admissions are released at, or anytime during the workday?

I for one am now having a lot of trouble sleeping and spend much of my time reading Cal Poly denial stories on one of the College Confidential forums. Pretty much the most depressing thing I can do… but I just can’t stop. Good luck everyone, let’s hope the decisions come soon.

I was hoping they would post ED by last night (Dec. 2nd). It looks like it will be next week or later. Bummer!!!

I’m so excited for you guys that applied ED. I had no idea Cal Poly would start sending out notices this soon! What about for regular decision transfer student like me? When do they usually send out acceptance or denied letters for us?

Best of luck to ALL of you!! When you apply ED you are showing your loyalty to and enthusiasm for the school. This does count for something and the school values that.

regular decision notifications will come out in March …

Thanks SLO_pop :)

can they just send out the notifications so i can quit stalking this thread? lol i look at it way too often.

You guys are making me extremely anxious.

i wish u could like someones post here like on facebook. cuz i agree with what everyone is saying haha. cross your fingers and make a wish at 11:11 that we find out tomorrow!

Crossing my fingers for Dec. 5th!

I applied ED for Architecture and am from Mariposa (the town outside of Yosemite).
Could someone figure out my chances of getting into Cal Poly SLO for me? Everytime I ask someone if I’ll get into the college of my choice they say, “Of course!”, then when I tell them it’s CalPoly, all I recieve is an “Oh… that’s a very hard school to get into”, so needless to say, my nerves are shot, just like the rest of you.
Anyways, my highschool GPA Weighted is a 4.39 (but 7th semester courses have yet to be accounted for), my SAT for reading is 700, my SAT for math is 750, my ACT Non-writing composite score is 31, and my ACT with writing composite score is 30.
I’d appreciate knowing! Can’t wait till Dec 15th =O

You are guaranteed to get in because your stats are way above their average, and you could probably get into more competitive universities as well.
You: GPA 4.39 SAT 1450 ACT 31
Average Architecture applicant admitted: GPA 3.87 SAT 1253 ACT 28

hmmmm i wonder whats up? Were there not a lot of notifications by now last year? I hope its not because of the number of applicants… :0. nah it shouldnt be. at least i hope not.
