Welp, haven’t heard anything from Berkeley or Stanford yet. Pretty sure that’s not a great sign.

If you do receive no notification from a school within 3-4 days from its starting moment of delivery of outcomes, it is more likely to be negetive. However, don’t give up your hope, you may be the last person to be informed! Good luck!!

do phd applicants get notified first? cuz I’ve heard from both schools I applied to for PHD, but the rest of my schools I applied for masters and haven’t heard anything from them.

@suchobe

yes most school deal with phd first

@9000, were you nominated for this?:

Has anyone been accepted to UVA or VA Tech yet?

Does anyone know if Harvard SEAS has sent anything yet for BE applicants? There was one post on gradcafe but I haven’t heard anything else about them sending out acceptances/interview invites.

Anyone have thoughts on MIT’s abysmal pass rates for its mechanical engineering PhD?
( one article: [Questionable Qualifiers - The Tech](http://tech.mit.edu/V123/N21/alamaro_20.21c.html) )

Would that risk make you consider choosing another university?

just got into MIT!

congrats man :)

@ ILikeLizards

That article was written in 2003. I go to MIT now and have a lot of friends in the MechE PhD program and from what they say the pass rates now are closer to 70%. They are still killer tests but it’s not so much a way to weed people out as it used to be…

Plus a lot of schools use qualifying exams to weed people out

No response from MIT EECS yet! I suppose it is going to be negative. The strong research achievements (9 IEEE conference papers, 2 local journals, 7 local conference papers) will certainly hurt me!!

gah nothing from mit be either

Hi, an update for mechanical engineering:
University of Illinois, Michigan, and CalTech should now be finished with their visit day invitations (Illinois accepts before visits, the other two afterwards). Purdue has visit days at the beginning of March (accepts after visit), and Northwestern at the end of march (accepts Prior to visit). Since they wouldn’t give less than 2 weeks of warning, if you don’t hear from Purdue in the next week or two expect a rejection. The other departments at these schools may be on similar schedules.

Hope that’s helpful,
ILikeLizards

Can anybody update us on aerospace? I think the only two left are CalTech and MIT if I’m not mistaken (at least these are the two I’m still waiting on).

just called mit be, was informed i didnt make into interview pool :(

@ han79118 - r they done with contacting students for interviews? guess i didnt make it either …

@aer

they said they only have a few left to review. so if you received the confirmation email long time ago, they’re probably done with it.

@han

who did you call there? I’m curious to find out about my status too
