I don’t really want to give my email out, but you can PM me. For the first paragraph, I talked about how I got into math in elementary school. It should probably be some small story about yourself.

eaglesfan90: Thanks a lot.
I have made a draft containing 1000 words and 10 paragraphs. Thouhg there is a lot of modifications remain to put on it, I doubt about the length. Is 1000 words and 10 paragraphs SoP too long for Harvard/MIT?

Rule of thumb for SOPs is no more than 2 pages. Mine was 6 paragraphs, ~1200 words.

I think it’s ok if they don’t say there’s some limit. My MIT one was like 920. It’s more about being concise and making sure you aren’t saying anything unnecessary.

Has anyone heard back from USC, Brown or Northwestern in regards to Masters in Computer Science/Computer Engineering? I finished by application late January but still haven’t heard back.

Maybe check on gradcafe to see if anyone’s heard back. It is kind of late though, so you might want to contact someone at those schools.

My SOPs were all a page long, about 600 words.

Also to update, I’ve received decisions from the following EE/ECE/EECS Masters programs:

Princeton
Stanford
UCLA
Cornell
Berkeley

Still waiting on:

UT Austin

Heard from:

MIT
Stanford
UC Berkeley
Georgia Tech
UC Irvine

Waiting on:

Columbia
Johns hopkins
harvard
michigan
UC Santa Barbara
UC Los Angeles

Ya I applied to a lot
Seems kind of late and bleak for those latter schools…

GF was applying to Geophysics and petroleum engineering.

Stanford - MS Energy Resource Engineering - Accepted
Rice - PhD Geophysics - Accepted

Austin - Pending
CSM - Pending

Rest don’t really matter. She’s taking the Stanford offer anyway.

anyone got a GPA of around 3.5 or so? How did you do?

^ I wonder about that too!

I know some people here got results back from Stanford M.S. EE program. When did you get your results and where you accepted/rejected?

Still waiting for my result.

Thanks.

@spectastic: yes, my GPA is around that, although my junior/senior GPA is much higher… I thought some schools would that that into consideration, especially since I come from a very strong engineering school and have a lot of research experience. Rejected from 3 out of 5 for PhD… 2 of those schools accepted me for masters… still waiting to hear from 2, but it’s pretty late in the game so we’ll see. Good luck to you, though!

where did you apply to? and where were you accepted (with funding I assume)? Also, where do you go to school?

@danielp1211: I got my acceptance notice from Stanford MSEE on Feb. 21st
