2012 Engineering and Physical Sciences Admission Results

Cheme24, congratulations! That is great news!!

I was accepted into the chemical engineering program at Purdue yesterday. Also 3/3, but let’s not jinx anything haha.

Good luck to all! And especially to the bioengineers, after looking at the forum above for Berkeley it’s clear that competition is extraordinarily fierce.

@jparity: thanks. Good to hear that you’re also international student like me. I suck at standardized tests :(. Never been a good test taker in my life. My mentor toldme the only thing that could keep me out of top programs is my standardized test scores. I just hope that I’m still in the gray area for second round. Is WashU your top choice?

@ducphan89, Yea WashU is one of my top choices. I’m definitely going there if I don’t get into U Washington in Seattle or UPenn.

the dread of waiting while people have heard back from their top choices already…

So if we haven’t heard back from places yet does that just mean we aren’t automatic acceptances nor rejections? I didn’t apply to penn or ucla until the day before their deadline but Ive heard of others getting in already. This is killing me!! But congrats to everyone who has gotten in already!

@chemE222: that’s how I tell myself. as long as I haven’t received the rejection letter, I’m still fine. it’s just the waiting part is the hardest part.

@cheme24

Did Delaware give you a visitation date? I received a letter yesterday with no information about visiting the program.

Just got a fully funded studentship to the University of Bristol for research in quantum chaos. :D

frankyj I got an email from a professor saying visiting weekend will be either Feb 16-18 or Mar 15-17. Our choice I believe.

Question for everyone: Anyone know anything about graduate admissions for Computer Science? I have a friend who is international and I don’t know anything about his chances for admissions or when he should expect to hear back.

Rejected from University of Washington (Seattle)… Well… here goes my 1st choice…

@jparity: sorry to hear so…well, you still have UPenn to look forward ;)

jparity: Which program? Bioengineering?

Just got an acceptance e-mail from Caltech chemical engineering.

@ducphan89, thank you so much for the words. Also hope you hear back from the schools soon.

@sarbruis, yes, Bioengineering PhD. The Graduate School Dean sent out a generic rejection email to everyone I think.

BTW, do the PhD programs give out waitlist at all? Or is it either accepted or rejected type of deal?

Thanks!

@jparity

they probably wont tell applicants, but they do have waitlist, cause my friend also applied to UW but hasnt got anything yet.

Accepted by UChicago Geophysical Sciences (with fellowship for being one of the top students)
