Hey guys, I'll be transferring to SB in the fall from the OC. Ive been reading up a lot about housing: dorms, apts, isla vista.etc..

Dorms: Pros, meet other transfers.
Cons, small and expensive, heard the social life isn't as good since people aren't as
integrated into the community/ meeting new people when they're 3rd years.

School owned apartments: read that more of the socially awkward people are in there, I know this info could be biased so I would want to hear from some people who have experienced it!

IslaVista: gets super rowdy/noisy and dirty. It's where the parties are, i feel like its chill to party but not to live in a dump. Again correct me if I'm wrong! Just heard these from my friends who have told me.

Pretty much they say I.V is the place since its super chill, cheaper than the dorms, and more freedom. Downside Is that it can get dirty/rowdy/loud which would bug if you're really trying to get some sleep or work done.

Long story short. Let's just all get a house! As transfers, we can help each other out and already have friends to begin with!

Or use this forum to find your future roommate/ housemate!

If this forum bumps I'll make us a facebook group.

Or these! [The New Tahitian - Leasing Center Welcome!](thenewtahitian.com)

I’d consider this since my housing plans are a tossup right now. Bookmarking this thread lol

Randroid: are you a transfer student this fall? Give me a general bio. Like where you’re from, major, age, name, hobbies, etc! We may possibly get an apt together in Isla Vista.

I’m also a transfer who got accepted to UCSB Fall 2012!

i kiiiiiiiiind of might be dowwwwwn. depends on how far away the house is b/c i’m not going to have a car and would have to bike everywhere LOL. so i want close x_x.

but i want my bathrooms cleaned for me so maybe not. crap idk.

LOL fionuhh. Me too.

^^LOL same, but we have to share bathrooms

Who know’s what people do in the bathroom…

I’m going to city college to transfer ucsb, would be down to get a house. 18 m bay area

Hahaha @acoustickitty @lawlking are you guys dorming? If so what dorms are you choosing?

I decided to go with Manzanita. Anyone going to the transfer Friday on the 11th?

Fionuhh still haven’t decided yet!

If I go to SB, Manzanita Village. If you see a guy walk to the shower naked from his room, you’ll know that’s me.

Haha yeah I was looking at Manzanita too only because I (hopefully, possibly) could get a beach view. hehe My friend who transferred last year from Merced currently lives in Manzanita and likes it. She said its much newer and at San Rafael you have a chance of sharing a bathroom with 8 people. lololol.

Are those transfer fridays worth going to?? I might go on the 18th but gas is so expensive and I don’t want to drive down there if it’s just one hour and something I could do online. Which orientation dates do you guys think you’ll be attending (in august)

Gas in England is more than 9$ a gallon. Stop complaining.
