2012 FSU accepted / rejected thread !

So, when I press “Check your status” on the website and login, it shows all the information I sent, but it doesn’t say whether or not I was accepted. There’s sections that say the Personal Info, Application Info, Transcripts, and Test Scores that I sent in, but it doesn’t say anywhere if I was accepted or not? What exactly does that mean? Am I being rejected/deferred, or are they just late giving me my decision? Or am I just derping on where to find the decision at?

EDIT: I was sure I was going to get in. I have a 2120 SAT and GPA is in the mid-high 3’s right now. I sent in the app on the day it was due, but I don’t think that should have made a difference, right?

800math, would that be weighted or unweighted gpa? they are really placing an emphasis on gpa this year

800Math if you do not see anything there about a status, maybe they have not made a decision on you yet because you did apply on time for the early deadline. Did you apply before the 17th of October?

It makes a difference when the application to Florida State is submitted. Late is basically terrible.

FSU data mines all applications and when they get what they want, they close the process.

All who think they can apply LATE to Florida State and be admitted basically lose out. We’ve said this here before…MANY times.

Apply EARLY or apply elsewhere.

My son was accepted.
Out of State: Ohio
Offered both scholarships (Reduced out of state tuition and Freshman Scholarship)
SAT: Didn’t take
ACT: 33
GPA: 3.8 unweighted. Probably fairly high FSU weighted.
AP: He had AP bio 10th grade and AP macro and micro in 11th, so AP Scholar
Honors Classes: pretty much everything that wasn’t AP
Dorm Choice: Haven’t applied for housing. He was thinking if he went to FSU he’d do the First Year Abroad. Any reason to apply for housing if you don’t intend to live on campus Freshman year?

I would still recommend securing an FSU Housing Priority number even if you don’t elect to live on campus at the time.

It’s nearly impossible to get out of a housing contract any more. If you sign up for a housing priority number, pay the deposit, etc, it is pretty much agreeing to live on campus the first year. It’s a pain to get out of the agreement (if you even can).

GOT IN!!!
3.4UW(idk what my fsu weighted is)
IB Diploma Candidate
1830 SAT
lots of extra curricular
OOSer (NJ)

If what Pasbal says is true, then take his advice and DON’T sign up for a Housing number- unless you’re willing to commit to Florida State.

hi so i was accepted to 2012 summer and I wont know for sure if im going to FSU until i hear back from University of Florida which wont be until february

so for housing should I not even bother with it until i know for sure that I am going?

is submitting a housing contract agreeing that i will attend that school?
because I dont want to miss out on the good dorms if I wait til february but I need to know if i got into U of Florida or not.

I think you guys confused what Pasbal is saying.

If you end up going to FSU, then the contract is legally binding. If you end up going elsewhere, you can easily get out of the contract (just you only get a partial refund of the deposit). I work for housing, so I’m absolutely sure of this.

The only reason to be worried about the contract is if you think there’s any chance you will go to FSU but live OFF campus.

If you don’t attend FSU, you won’t be obligated to the housing contract. You will, however, lose $50 out of the $225 deposit you will submit to keep your priority number (just in case UF rejects you). Which, by the way, would be the best thing that could ever happen to you;)

you will regret uf. just saying

1) their rec center isnt even open half of the time
2) their people are prunes
3) its BORING!

so if i end up going to UF I wont have to worry about the contract and i get $175 of my $225 deposit back?

btw i LOVEEE FSU but at the end of the day its all about ranking and which ever school is better so no hate! haha but thanks for the help!

Rankings and which school is “better” can be two very different things. Buyer beware.

think about it…would you want to enjoy your four years? you won’t do it at UF.

although UF beats FSU in rankings, their difference is so little it shouldn’t even be considered.

^Some rankings. Not all, and US News is not authoritative.

For engineering, I’d suggest UF. Physics - FSU. Actuarial science - FSU. Political science - FSU and so on.

honestly guys, i really dont care. id be happy anywhere. fsu looks amazing and im already super excited that i got in. its just that my parents care about stuff like that. I know its so marginal. Like of course there is a difference between UCF and FSU or UCF and UF but FSU and UF is totally different and i know what you guys are saying… haha

btw im interested in business. im thinking about going to either business school or law school after fsu…
