I received a Tufts Neuroscience invite via phone last Thursday. I know their interview is Feb. 17th. No idea if they are done reviewing applications yet though.

@ NeuroIm4: Rockefeller still has more committee meeting, no worry, it’s still early.
And you have invitation from two really good institution, so you’re fine!

Good luck!

I agree with the others. Two good invites show that your stats are nothing to worry about. I don’t pay attention to neuro deadlines/dates but I’m aware that the schedules can be later and less predictable for international students. Stay calm and patient. :)

Just got off the phone with Stanford (Chemistry) They said that they will send out notifications by the end of January.

Called NYU Sackler today, there is still some hope for those waiting to hear. They are 60% through all the applications.

Thanks all! That at least makes me feel somewhat better. I know I should be very happy with the two invites I already have, and I am… But this madness of not knowing anything, is crazy. Well I’ll just try to stay calm and patient!

Just got rejected from UW-Madison which is my undergrad. college. Ouch…

I saw the first interview of the year from Caltech Bioengineering posted on Grad Cafe today. Did anyone one else receive an invite?

Currently I have received interview invites from NYU Sackler institute, Berkeley neuro, UCSF neuro, Duke neuro, WashU biological sciences and Brown Neuro (not NIH).

I am still waiting for Stanford, Columbia and UCSD. I am really waiting for UCSD, its my top choice! Does anyone know if they are still sending invites? A friend of mine received an invitation from Columbia so I am kind of assuming I got rejected there.

im waiting on ucsd too. anyone hear from uw-seattle for neuro? where are you all seeing posts on grad cafe?

why would you rather go to ucsd than berkeley or ucsf?

Yes, I was invited to interview with UW Seattle Neurobiology on December 15th via email. As far as I am aware they only offered two interview dates (both in the same week). Jan 24-25 or 25-26.

I would be surprised if they are still sending out invites being that the interview is now less than two weeks away.

Hope this helps and sorry to be the bearer of potential bad news.

Anyone know when the last Rockefeller meeting is (heard there was another one, can someone confirm)?

UCSD Biological sciences hasn’t sent all of its invites yet. I was told that they have reviewed the applications but are still waiting to make some decisions.

So keep your fingers crossed

I am still waiting for the interviews to decide what University I will be going. Nonetheless UCSD has a computational neuroscience specialization that looks great, lots of courses in computational and theoretical neuroscience. This is something that not every program has.

Just called UCSD Neuro program. Said that the remainder of the interviews will go out today or tomorrow. It’s not over yet, but I am doubtful for myself…good luck everyone…it will be an email!

btw, tomorrow is friday the 13th…good luck everyone!

@langerhans I was rejected too from my undergrad school for biochemistry. No love…

Did research for 2 labs + was a TA for an upper-level biochem class there too. I am almost too embarrassed to let my friends and family know. I guess I should have expected it since they only interview 10-15 people out of ~150 students who apply. ARGH! Very annoying.

I find out that most graduate schools like to send out interview invitations on Thursday and Friday. I just got one from UMASS Biomedical Sciences program.
