When I made posts earlier this year about my chances, a lot of people stated oh, your chances are whatever, oh your gpa is a little lower, oh this and oh that. Part of the reason was I of course asked the questions and should have expected this. My point is, don’t really listen to too many people on College Confidential in terms of your chances and when you have weird circumstances. No one really knows. CC is simply a great way for you to understand what you need to do to have a chance at getting in. Your gpa will matter of course, but show admissions that you have character, want to expand yourself, and that you wish to learn and be successful. Write good statements, be yourself and you’ll get in. I can’t stress this enough.</li>

<p>Strengths: I have to say that my personal statement was my strength. I talked about how my teachers did not expect me to succeed academically because I was categorized as a remedial student. So, in the latter part of my essay, I described how a “remedial” student was able to prove to his doubters that he could achieve greatness and, ultimately, apply to this prestigious university, with an eye to conquer obstacles and go beyond his limits.
