The result will look like this (mine):

Decision: Waitlisted

[ul]

[] Stats:
[]SAT: 730/690/710 CR/M/W
[]SAT IIs: 690 Math I, 690 Math I, 680 Bio E
[]ACT: 32 (perfect essay, 30/29/34/35 Eng/Reading/Math/Science)
[] GPA: 3.7 out of 4. Unweighted School doesn't grade inflate.
[] Rank: Unranked. Top 10%.
[] Other stats: Mostly Honors Classes, 2 APs this year.
[] Subjective:
[] Extra Curriculars: Working on my Eagle Scout project, I run my own computer repair business, ton of community service
[] Essays: My English Teacher thought it was great, and she isn't an easy grader.
[]Teacher Recs: My English teacher wrote a "fantastic" rec, and my Math teacher from Junior year wrote a "good" one. I waived my right to see them so these are the opinions of my GC.
[]Counselor Rec: Definitely great. I didn't see it but she told me that she had nothing bad to say whatsoever and she is brutally honest.
[] Hook (if any): Um... no.
[] Location/Person: NY
[] State or Country: USA
[] School Type: Highly competitive Public
[] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[] Gender: Male
[] Major strength(s)/weakness(es): Acceptance history for Lafayette is poor (see below)
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/deferred: As above.
[] Other Factors:
[] Going to attend? Probably not, even if I got in. I don't want to wait until May 20th. I'm REALLY disappointed though.
[/ul]

Acceptance history for my school:

Year: 2005
Applied:5
Admitted: All 5
Enrolled: None

Year: 2004
Applied: 5
Admitted: 3
Enrolled: None

Decision: Accepted

[ul]
[]Stats:
[] ACT: 31 (perfect essay, 31 reading, 31 math, 32 english, 29 science)
[] GPA: like a 90ish w/basically all honors and AP at a competitive private school
[] Rank: school doesn't rank
[]Subjective:
[] Extra Curriculars: theatre, karate, pres of spanish club, lots of community service
[] Essays: pretty good.. they told me in my acceptance letter that they really liked my main essay
[] Teacher Recs: both should have been great
[] Counselor Rec: should have been good
[] Hook (if any): black belt, intern for the state senator that represents easton
[] State or Country: PA
[] School Type: very competitive private
[] Ethnicity: caucasian
[] Gender: female
[] Major strength(s)/weakness(es):
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: live in PA, good interview, visited quite a few times
[li] Going to attend? not sure yet[/li][/ul]

Decision: Waitlisted

[ul]
[] SAT IIs: literature 700, us history 590
[] ACT: 30 (would have been higher, but math & science brought me down...i thought the fact that i was applying to be an english major and had a 12 on the essay with a 34 and 33 on the english and reading comprehension respectively would help though)
[] GPA: 3.3 uw...low but believe me, i had extenuating circumstances that pretty much killed my gpa freshman and sophomore years. i have maintained about a 3.7-3.8 each year since the beginning of junior year, though
[] Other stats: all honors except my math classes, 3 APs and one seminar course
[] Extra Curriculars: varsity field hockey goalie, chorus and select chorus, relay for life committee, 2 community service clubs, bandfront and more...also went to 2 educational summer programs, went on a mission trip to help build homes in Appalachia, interned at a business, babysit frequently
[] Essays: i thought mine was really good. if was different though..it kind of talks about an unusual and pretty dark and upsetting event in my life but also what i learned and how i changed myself. everyone who edited it thought it was engaging and powerful, but i havent been accepted to anywhere ive had to send that
[] Teacher Recs: i didnt read them but one teacher offered to do it and i did extremely well and went above and beyond with extra credit and stuff in the others' class and only does a certain number of people each year so id assume that theyd be good.
[] Counselor Rec: she never elaborated on it, but i would assume it to be good as we have a great relationship and really understands some of the stuff i had to go through
[] Hook (if any): i applied ED and was deferred, sent them everything possible: an alumni rec, an additional teacher rec, and my own letter of desire to go there. also toured it, then visited again for an interview which i thought went really well.
[] Location/Person: PA
[] School Type: very competitive public school
[] Ethnicity: caucasian
[] Gender: female
[] Major strength(s)/weakness(es): my gpa was questionable due to freshman and sophomore years, but everything else i believe made me a very strong candidate
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: gpa issues again..i was hoping that the fact that i was able to go from a sophomore year gpa of 3.0 to junior year gpa of 3.8, which i have since maintained would display my dedication and hard work
[] Other Factors: 2 kids at my school were accepted early decision before my app had been processed
[li] Going to attend? i didnt accept the waitlist offer...i dont think its worth the effort after i already made it after being deferred in hopes of an RD acceptance. lafayette was my first choice up until my deferral, which was really disheartening. im really frusterated that they actually think i would wait any longer for them...luckily i got into a more reputable reach that after visiting i am thrilled to be attending next year.[/li][/ul]

Decision: Accepted
[ul]
[]Stats: (posting for my DS).
[] SAT: 2210
[] SAT IIs: 770 Math II, 730 Literature
[] ACT:
[] GPA: 3.9W 3.4 UW (due to health issues sophomore year)
[] Rank: N/A
[] Other stats:
[]Subjective:
[] Extra Curriculars: Strong, not at national level (published in NCBI database, 2 A's in Brown U. college classes, lots of others)
[] Essays: Very good - mentioned in letter.
[] Teacher Recs: Should be good.
[] Counselor Rec: Should be very good.
[] Hook (if any): Classical Languages and Biotech Guy
[] Location/Person:
[] State or Country: NJ
[] School Type: Private, Highly Competitive
[] Ethnicity: White, Jewish
[] Gender: Male
[] Major strength(s)/weakness(es):
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Record seemed a match for the school but to be honest I thought I this was relatively safe and given the folks being waitlisted I think I was wrong. This whole year seems skewed statistically.
[] Other Factors:
[] Going to attend? Maybe - it's one of two favorite acceptances right now. Waiting on some reaches.
[/ul]

knitsafghans- i also attended summer @ brown. i did a three week class there. it was my top choice, and i applied early but didn't get in.

Looks like C&P alone doesn't do the trick. Good luck wading through that!

Son also will have 7 AP's by end of this year (4 so far).
He did the 7 week Summer at Brown Program.

[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: I think that Lafayette looks at the individual holistically, and determined that my daughter is remarkable! (which she is)
[] Other Factors:
[*] Going to attend? she's not sure yet

Coopjust -- Thank you for straightening that out. I know it doesn't make you feel any better but you obviously had everything it should have taken to have received an acceptance from Lafayette. I'm afraid this is just a very tough year for admissions at selective colleges and for reasons we'll never know extremely qualified students are being waitlisted, and even rejected, all over the place. It happened to my daughter at Kenyon. Good luck to you with your other college choices. I hope it will all work out for the best in the end.

Decision: Accepted
