2012 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Well it depends last year they wanted it received by the deadline, but this year they just want it uploaded by the deadline and gave a second deadline for received by.

@Eszebel I think I might be in your region actually. I mistyped my last comment. My deadline for submission is January 6th. I’m Northeast region. I did a short story. If I send it tomorrow, it probably should be good to go either way.

“FINAL DEADLINE - Friday, January 6, 2012: $10 fee per individual submission and $30 fee per writing portfolio submission. Online registration (including all works uploaded) must be complete and all submission forms and fees must be POSTMARKED by Friday, January 6, 2012.”- I found that [Affiliate Page | Alliance for Young Artists & Writers](http://www.artandwriting.org/Affiliate/WRALNE). Be warned though that it may differ from region to region.

Alright… i guess your submit guidelines really differ from my region’s then o_o"

Nevertheless, I’d still avoid waiting until the deadline…

For those of you submitting a writing portfolio: what are you talking about in the writer’s statement? And how long is it?

hi! please let me know if you find out what the writer’s statement is about  i’m trying to figure out the same thing.

Hi again, could you please tell me if we need to submit a hard copy of our pieces (not electronically) by snail mail. Thanks!:)

If you’re taking about writing, only electronic copies of the actual piece are required. The check and the permission slips need to be mailed in, though.

Thank you so much! So, all that I’m mailing is the check and the permission slip, right?

^Yep that’s right.

If you’re submitting photography, do you need to send a hard copy?

:)

Question: With my deadline being tomorrow, I have realized I just can’t submit anything. I’ve been too busy :stuck_out_tongue: so is there anyway I can “delete” my account or something? or will it be frowned upon if i dont submit anything with my account?

Oh, I can’t imagine it’ll hurt you not to submit anything! I wouldn’t worry about deleting the account.

Hey guys I hate to be “that guy” but you could always email your regional coordinators since it varies so much from region to region.

So I’m doing video games… 2 days left lol…

So disappointed I missed the deadline this year… Oh well…

Deadline’s passed!! Did everyone submit? What did you submit?

Yeah, I just barely mailed all my release forms in time for them to be postmarked on the 6th, haha…I submitted five flash fiction pieces, two poetry collections, three short stories, a memoir, and a general writing portfolio. So we’ll see where that gets me. It says on the WRAL page for the South that we’ll hear back on Jan. 30, which seems much sooner than usual for WRAL. Does it say that on anyone else’s WRAL page (whatever the region)?

Also, who else is doing a novel submission? What’s your novel about?

When do the results come out? I submitted something to Architecture which is pretty obscure from what I’ve seen…can anyone confirm this? I had to rush mine so it’s a little austere but I really hope I win something.

My postmark deadline is tomorrow but my online deadline has already passed.

@Eszebel: I’ve written a little more than half of my novel submission, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to finish it before the deadline because of this huge project I have to do that’s due not too long before the Novel deadline. My novel is about a kidnapping though. Iffy plotline; not so great.
