I TAGed to Davis. :D

And, I’d rather spend another year in the *****hole that is my community college rather than consider those CSUs lol.

Hey guys, I received my UCSB tag letter today but I’m not sure what it means. This is what i got:

Dear Ivan,

Thank you for your interest in UC Santa Barbara. You have successfully submitted your online TAG
form to UCSB for fall 2012 transfer admission. We now look forward to receiving your University of
California transfer application during the November 1 - 30 application period. Apply at
www.universityofcalifornia.edu/apply. When applying for admission, please indicate your TAG
submission on the UC transfer application and remember that your transfer admission guarantee is
only applicable for the major you indicated on your TAG form.

UC Santa Barbara does not provide an admission evaluation or early admit decisions as part of its
TAG program. When you apply to UCSB for admission, we will review your TAG and notify you of your
TAG and admission status beginning mid March through the end of April. It is important to remember
that in order to maintain your TAG eligibility, you must meet the following conditions:

Complete the required courses in English and mathematics with grades of C or better by the end of
fall 2011 for fall 2012 admission.

Earn an overall minimum 3.20 GPA in all UC transferable course work and major preparation courses
(if applicable) by the end of fall 2011 and maintain a minimum overall 3.20 GPA through the end of
spring 2012.

Complete all other TAG requirements as outlined in the UCSB Fall 2012-2013 TAG by the established deadlines.

If for any reason, you are unable to meet the conditions of the TAG; an offer of admission will
depend on your completion of transfer admission requirements and selectivity in the applicant pool.
Students who do not meet all TAG criteria may still be competitive for admission to UCSB.
Thank you for submitting your TAG form. UC Santa Barbara has much to offer you, and we look
forward to your becoming a part of our vital educational community.

Now, I’ve looked online and apparently UCSB does not make early decisions. They either say that they received your TAG application or that you didn’t meet TAG requirements. However, I looked at last year’s letter and there is an additional paragraph I did not receive.

The 2011 letter also included:
Next, make sure you complete any remaining requirements for the UCSB Transfer Admission Guarantee. Assuming you meet all conditions, your admission to the University is guaranteed.

I’m wondering what letter other UCSB applicants received.

^^I got the same thing, it means you got approved

got TAG approved from ucsb! :D

^^^ Hmmm, I called the UCSB admissions office and the lady told me UCSB has made no decisions. She told applicants received either the letter I got or one letting students know that for some reason they did not meet TAG requirements but weren’t rejected. Her information pretty much said we have to apply during this month and we won’t know if we’re in or not until March or April.

I also got the same thing as you CptIvan and I didn’t receive the extra paragraph either but I also did some research on last years UCSB responses and some of the words have been altered as well.

Hmmm, could you please post what your letter said?
I called UCSB due to the ambiguity of my letter and i was told no one is officially accepted or rejected based on TAG applications to UCSB. The lady said we’d have to apply on the regular UC application and wait until March or April.

We will review your TAG and notify you of your
TAG and admission status beginning mid March through the end of April

What does this mean? So they really haven’t reviewed our TAG?

^ That was for amansings.

Apparently that’s how it is for UCSB, at least. They simply made sure you met requirements for the TAG program but made no formal decisions.

UCSB TAG requires you to meet the qualifications until the end of Fall 2011. They can’t make the decision since they don’t have your Fall 2011 grades and classes. That’s why they can’t say its approved or denied yet

I see, thanks lawlking.

CptIvan you did say that there were two letters right? One for meeting the TAG criteria and the other one for not meeting the TAG criteria.

If this is the case, then I don’t believe that it would say to check the UCSB TAG on the normal app if we didn’t meet the criteria as of right now.

^^Mine says to indicate on the UC application that I’m tagged with SB

From what I was told, checking that you have a TAG application is just to let the school know that they have it on record and they’ll review it at the same time they review your application. Mine says the same. I was confused so I called the admissions office at UCSB. Perhaps someone will call too and we’ll get more info on this.

ya Cpt Ivan everyone who applied to UCSB TAG or UCSD TAG received the same letter of course you should know if yours will be accepted already based on your classes now. I also received the same letter, it means we have completed the minimum criteria and just need to have a 3.2 gpa at the end of spring and fall and have a C avg depending on ur prereqs for major.

Yeah, I’ve meet all the requirements and my GPA is also higher than 3.2. Most people have told me as long as those two things are met, that TAG applicants are in but I just don’t want to get my hopes up until it’s a sure thing :(

Relax man don’t stress over transferring, if you already know what to do, then do it. Make sure you apply to backup schools as well. We all have a particular school in mind but start getting used to the idea that there is more than “one” school out there.
