2012 TAG Thread

for the addition comments on TAG application: what should i put? explain why i repeated the courses? and explain why i did bad on the first year?
should i just leave it blanks?

Do all ASSIST Certified Courses count towards your GPA even if you have taken more units than the maximum amount allowed for transfer? My GPA is higher than the minimum required right now but I still need to take a course or two to satisfy IGETC. These courses will put me over the 90 unit max. Will TAG count all my certified courses for my minimum required GPA or will they only use 90?

Explain anything you think that affects your GPA

Yes, they all count

All of your certified courses

Again, you can have 3000000000000000000 units completed and it doesn’t matter at all, as long as all those courses are from community colleges and not any 4-year university.

I’m super new so please forgive me if this has been asked before:

I applied for UCSD TAG and submitted it. So they said that decisions will come out November 1-15. Does this mean that if they say yes, and we just fill out the UC App in November, we’re basically in (considering we keep our GPA)?

How are “Courses with Unit Limitations” counted on the TAG application? I played intercollegiate sports for my CC and have a bunch of related units. In filling out my coursework, all the units look to be counted in my Assist certified GPA total, however I think sports is one of those “courses with unit limitations” situations.

not sure ur ccc but mine only allow 2 units of PE. Even if u take more than 10, still count 2.

In a previous post someone mentioned that ALL assist certified classes count towards your gpa even if you had 3000 units. I know only 90 are transfered that count towards graduation but I was wondering if all my assist certified PE classes would count in my TAG gpa?

^ Yes. Every single UC-transferable course
Just enter it into the TAG and see for yourself if it counts or not…

hi all,

i recently submitted my TAG to UCSD, but realize i may have made a grave mistake.
i did not put the courses i planned to take in the spring semester.
for total units (including this semester) i have 48 (72 quarter), and then including AP units, i have a total of 82 (120 quarter).
will this affect my TAG outcome, and if so, should i withdraw my TAG and re-submit?

^ First question: no, doesn’t affect your TAG outcome. You are not held responsible for planned courses in Spring 2012. They do allow you to update your application once you decide which courses to take next Spring

Second question: withdraw and resubmit is absolutely fine. You should do that if that bugs you. You don’t want to spend some sleepless nights just because of a small mistake lol

@sparkyboy - thanks a lot for the quick reply!

When we do the update, is it on the UC app which updates the TAG app as well? Or on the TAG app?

^Idk, I’m an applicant as well, but I’m pretty sure my friends say that it’s the normal UC-app, and it automatically updates the TAG as well

Yeah, I did that (entered them into TAG) and they all count. I was concerned about the “transfer limit” thing and also the “All of the above calculations (gpa and units) should be considered preliminary based on your self-reported information” disclamer at the end of the “My Coursework” TAG page.

I have plenty of units so I don’t care if all the units transfer, I just want the grades to be included in my “minimum required GPA”. I’m TAGing UCSD and have a 3.65 right now WITH all my intercollegiant sports units. Without them I think I’m down to around a 3.55. I’m sure I’ll be fine either way as all I’m doing this Fall is taking some easy classes to complete IGETC. It would just be nice to know I have some sort of buffer and not cutting it close.

Did you guys fill this out?

^ Why not?

^ Nvm. I filled it out

GPA: Completed: In Progress/Planned: Total:

Overall Total: 2.89 102.00/153.00

applied for riverside…

overall gpa below 3.0… will i get rejected?? my total units is 102… 46 completed… planned 34…

i thought only transferable counted toward gpa… neverthought that they included non transferable… i did so bad on my ESL classes…

Hi guys! For “My Coursework” section on the UC TAG application, must we include Fall 2011, Winter 2012 and Spring 2012 classes and list them as “In-Progress”…Or do we only include Fall 2011 classes? Kinda confused!

Also, can we withdraw the already submitted TAG application, and re-submit again?

Thank you!!!

^ List future courses as “planned”.
You can withdraw and resubmit, no big deal
