Current College Students Looking to Transfer: What school is you attending and what school do you plan to transfer to? You can list more than one if applying to multiple schools.

Please list your current school, major, and what school you want or will transfer to. Please list your current gpa and the reason for transferring if possible. Thank you!

Current school: brookdale community college
Major: chemistry, will transfer as a bio major
Would like to transfer to: Rutgers or TCNJ.
GPA: 4.0, 66 credits
Reason: get a bachelor’s degree.

I already transferred, but on the off chance it’s helpful at all:

Most recent school: Northern Virginia Community College
Major: Technically still undeclared, will declare Foreign Affairs in a few weeks
Transferred to: UVA
GPA: 3.62, 73 credits accepted
Reason: CC is obviously only temporary, UVA was my dream school, I graduated from NVCC.

Current school: Finished all pre-reqs last semester so not currently enrolled anywhere
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Would like to transfer to: Michigan, will also apply to Illinois, Cornell and Purdue
GPA: 3.82, 115 Credits
Reason: Research opportunities, strong alumni base for networking, and most importantly Michigan is the best fit for me.

Current school: Cuyahoga Community College
Transfer school: Miami University!!
Major: Chemistry now but switching to Microbiology
GPA: 4.0 when I applied. 3.6-3.7 now ( )
Credits: 40-something. I’ll have to check my DARs report.
Reason: It’s a CC–I had too. Miami was my dream school in high school, too, but I got more money than I would have (if I had gotten in) as a freshman. And I gots me a job and a research internship. Super excited!

Current School: Calhoun Community College (after a year at Kapiolani Community College)
Transfer School: Jacobs University Bremen, Franklin College Switzerland, & John Cabot University
Major: History
GPA: 3.9
Credits: So far I have 20-ish credits. I’m applying after my fall grades come in, which should push me over the minimum limit most schools have for looking at high school records.
Reason: I’m at a CC and I want to live overseas.

Current school: UC Santa Cruz
Major: Biochemistry
Would like to transfer to: UCLA or Caltech
GPA: 4.0, 105 credits
Reason: Room and Board is too expensive, so I want to save $$$ by living w/parents again (and obviously these are good schools!)

Current school: Vanderbilt University, rising freshman
Major: math & computer science
HS GPA:3.8+ unweighed, rank in top 2%
SAT1: 2230 SAT2: 780(chem)+800(math2)+780(physics)
AP(all 5): US History, Cal BC, Microeco, Macroeco, Chemistry
Transfer to: Upenn, U Chicago, Yale, Brown, Columbia
Reason for transfer: lack of international settings, lack of internship than schools in New England, and has no applied math major.

Current school: Arcadia University, freshman
Major: Computer Science
Would like to transfer to: Rutgers-Camden, Rowan
Credits: By the time I transfer, I will have about 24
SAT: M500 W490 R500 (average)
HS GPA: 3.9 (unweighted)
Reason: Arcadia is way too expensive (even though I LOVE the campus, teachers, etc.), I can commute to Rutgers and Rowan and save money. Even if I had to take 4 years all over again at Rutgers/Rowan, I’d still be paying less than Arcadia. Fun times.

Well, I’ll let you know how it goes when it happens.

Current School: Pikes Peak Community College, freshman
Major: Undecided
Would like to transfer to: Seattle University, U of Washington
Credits: I’ll have 41 when I transfer (assuming, of course, all of them are accepted)
ACT: 28
HS GPA: 3.8
AP: APUSH (3), AP English Lit (4)
Reason: Well, obviously, CC is a temporary affair. I was originally accepted to Seattle U as a freshman this year, but was unable to afford it. So, I’m getting a lot of the core classes out of the way and applying for scholarships, and hoping for the best.

Current school: Cornell University, freshman
Major: Undecided
Would like to transfer to: Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Caltech, MIT, Dartmouth
Credits: By the time I transfer, I will have approximately 36 credits from Cornell and 33 accepted credits, so 69ish credits, assuming my credits are accepted
ACT: 34.25 (36S, 36M, 33E, 32R, 12Essay)
SAT 2: 780 Chem, 800 Math II
HS GPA: 3.73, top 3% of graduating class, heavy upward trend blah blah blah- I hope this HS GPA won’t be too much of a problem when applying, since I will have a college GPA when I apply
AP: Most rigorous courseload in graduating class, 9APS, 2 College courses
Couple of reasons:
Too much of a burden for my parents given the location of Cornell and will trouble dad’s job
From what I hear from friends who currently attend and looking at the way math classes are taught, people don’t really care about math competitions nor do they prepare for them (which is seen from Cornell’s subpar performance each year at Putnam). That’s a big no-no for me.
I don’t wish to pursue engineering, and I’m not allowed to major in something else without engineering
Cornell doesn’t have an applied math major
I didn’t get a chance to apply to any of those schools the first time around (except Harvard) due to extreme procrastination, so I’d definitely like to apply this time around
Too far away for me to travel down to tournaments and such. Just too isolated from everything else, though I suppose I did know this and I still chose Cornell

I’d actually be fine if I stayed at Cornell (most likely will given very low transfer rates)- love the campus and atmosphere when I visited a couple of times, but my parents insist I try to transfer out for the above reasons. We’ll see how things turn out.
