<p>I am an Archeology major (Anthropology) accepted to UCSB and UCSC so far. GPA is 3.5. I had *<strong><em>ty grades during my first year of CC but academically renewed what I could. Received mostly A’s since then, not without a few *</em></strong>ups here and there. I have worked at a Central American archaeological field school for the past three years, accumulating three years of original research on Maya settlement. My work will be published within the next year. I was also on Student Senate for a year. Did private archaeological work, participated in conservation projects. Worked various odd jobs when school wasn’t too overwhelming. Sorted samples at UCLA’s Zooarchaeology lab. Writing is my strength and my personal statement was fairly strong, I’d guess.</p>

<p>CONS: “Bad” grades early in community college career. Some ups and downs. (Academically renewed…however, this still left some C’s here and there.)</p>
<p>PROS: Unique and impressive extracurriculars/original research. Obvious potential and dedication demonstrated despite early setbacks…for example, I took eight academic classes one semester (at two schools) and got a 4.0.</p>
<p>Chance me? I feel like I’m a big ball of contradictions and have no idea what the higher tier schools’ reactions will be to my case.</p>
