2012 Transfer Chance Me! Thread

Well then…?

report to your thread and await a response, should have posted in here first.

bump your thread tomorrow. perhaps someone will respond or come after me tonight and chance you, doubt it tonight tho.

Haha, thanks UCkitty. USC is just a backup.

if you don’t make it to UCLA, you I THINK, you will be a very close candidate.

im not sure about the dynamics with HAAS, what i have been reading on here, its harder than med school to get admitted to(?),

I honestly think you’ll make it though. Ask KME/berkeleyphil/deanzatransfer/redoplease, they’re the berkeley experts.

@UCkitty

Well, UCLA is my second choice after haas. Haas is really difficult, more than a thousand applicants every year. Damn :frowning:

And where can i contact these berkeley experts? Thanks a lot

above click search and go to advanced and put those members names in, i would do it all for you but I’m studying international relations right now and am extremely pooped.

but blahhh, i hope you make it to the top, with applying to those schools. I’m certain you’ll get into either UCLA or UCB, but I’m sure you will be more prone to kiss a sewer rat out of joy if you got accepted into HAAS. ha.

@UCkitty

Thanks a lot, i really appreciate it. Haha, will have no idea what i will even do if i did get in, just hoping for the best. Still got essays to write :D

Let’s say all pre reqs are done, will missing 1 or 2 courses for IGETC significantly hurt my chances?

school? & major?

^ Major is Microbiology or a similar life science at UCLA.

Currently: 3.09GPA
Taking 28, maybe 32, units at the moment. (Two colleges)
Expected a max of 3.4GPA, saying I get straight A’s.
TAP certified after this FALL.
Applying for Linguistics and Asian Languages and Culture for UCLA, East Asian Language for UCI.
Upward trend… from 2.1 last Fall.
Planning on joining AGS.
Some volunteer hours.
Some tutoring.
Planning on shadowing ESL teachers.
Done with all pre-reqs.
I will have 91-95 units, all UC transferable, by the end of FALL.
Statement: Talk about how I was going to three different school, two colleges and one for Pharmacy Technician school. And how I used to be a Science major that changed to Linguistics and how I found my true calling and career of choice.
How I raised my GPA from 2.1 to 3.09 within two semesters.

iwillflyby.

pal you’re in @ UCI. great job on the upward trent & EC’s. I’m saying yes for UCLA based upon your major, but wouldn’t bet on it like I would UCI. maybe we will see each other next year.

Yeah we’ve been over this like a while ago.
I want to get in UCLA though since it is closer and more prestigious internationally in my opinion.

oh thats just fact! ha. i know you and mostly EVERYONE else here wants to get into those prestigious schools.

but i hope you make it. just know you will more than likely be at UCI, UCLA maybe for grad school if you decide.

Undergrad gpa:3.234 highest possible by fall 2011:3.447
Current school/major: UCR/Mechanical Engineering
Major Prereq: will be fullfilled by winter
Intended schools: UCLA, USC, UCI, UCSD
Intended Major(s): Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
EC: UCR SAE(Society of Automotive Engineer)
Archery
Community service in Riverside and Irvine area
Other: Upward trend
UCR Honors Program

this should be stickied too.

ct1222, hey whats up. welcome to the board.

I will only be chancing you for UCI & UCSD.

Why do you want to transfer?

Doubting it will be possible to transfer in engineering anyways, but anything is possible I am sure.

Your EC’s are great, and upward trend of course gives you +'s

I would say 40/60 chance on transferring from UCR to UCI and 30/70 on transferring to UCSD.

good luck. you might just want to consider grad school @ UCLA for your masters in engineering instead.

Chance me please!

Current Gpa: 2.97, Plan to have around 3.18 by the end of fall.
Major: Economics
Major Gpa: 3.0 *without Calc 2 calculated but I plan to take it in Spring.
Schools: UCD, UCSC (from Bay Area)
EC: Is our EC just what we’ve done since starting college or can it be from high school as well? For what I’ve done while in college: Volunteer work for a non-profit international business association. (Mostly office work and planning their meetings)
Additional Info: I use to attend a CSU but I dropped out due to some family problems where I had to live around home to care for a family member. I decided to attend a CC afterwards and I have only 6 units from the CSU because I concurrently took some classes at a CC as well during then.

Also, I started college with already about 10 units worth of C’s for a 2.0 while I was still in high school. So my gpa is like 2.0 overall before starting then I got a 2.6 semester gpa for Fall 2010 due to family problems, then during spring things got better so I jumped to a 3.66 semester gpa and summer 3.35 semester gpa to a overall of a 2.97 but I plan to get straight A’s in fall for a 3.18. I have about 40 units completed with 13 in progress currently.

First Generation.

I will have Pre-Reqs and IGETC done by spring. I also have some pretty strong personal statements written but I don’t think it’ll matter since I heard UCD and UCSC doesn’t read them for transfers.

I know that my GPA isn’t too high but I will be applying to some other universities as well but UCD is my preference.

I keep getting urged by my counselor to apply because the median 50% GPA for transferring to UCD is 3.18-3.72 for last year. But Economics was the most popular transfer major though I don’t think it is impacted.

Any sort constructive criticism or feedback is greatly appreciated!

Off-topic Question

Will there be an area on the UC application for me to fill out additional information explaining why I did so poorly in the fall? Also will UCD take in consideration grade trends?

Assist GPA: 3.56gpa
will have a 3.63 gpa after fall 2011 semester.
Major: Political Science
4.0gpa in major prereqs
Schools: UCLA, UCI, UCSD, UCB
Essay: Will be good

Thanks :D

what happened to the 3.05?

Miscalculation in GPA

I found out Chem 50 is actually transferable since last year so that dipped my gpa since I had a C for it from high school.
