Major- Anthropology B.A.
GPA- currently a 3.2, unless summer courses at CC count, then ~3.5. If not, will raise to 3.4-3.5 after this fall
Major GPA- 3.85
Pre Reqs- 2/3 required at my UC
ECs- volunteered at the hospital, volunteer at the American Cancer Society, part time job, served as a poll worker twice, CSF life member, valedictorian, varsity tennis for two years, key club, tennis club, Lion Leaders, tennis lessons
Applying to UCLA, maybe UC Irvine as well

UC to UC transfer

I’m unsure about my major GPA. I read that CCC courses taken after you enroll at a UC don’t count towards your GPA. I took one of my pre reqs at a CCC. If it doesn’t count then I have a 3.7

Major: Informatics
GPA: 3.1
IGETC: Complete
TAG: Maybe
Major Pre-reqs: 1 class left

Colleges: Applying to Irvine

Well, they changed the GPA requirements for Irvine this year so i am not sure if i should apply for TAG. I will have my last pre-req completed by the end of fall 2011. Yeah I know my GPA is pretty low and Irvine basically f***ed me this year by raising their GPAs from 3.0 to 3.2. My fault anyways for the low GPA, but what are my chances of getting in?

Hey guys. I’m going to apply to CAL, USC, University of San Francisco, and Santa Clara U as a transfer this fall. I am going into college with 32 credits from local universities and colleges. I will be attending a top 75 four year private school in the Midwest.

MAJOR: UCB - political science USC - business administration
GPA: 3.5 (after first semester 3.6667)
UNITS: 63 by May 2012
EXTRACURRICULARS: A TON - church, volunteering, student government, jobs, leadership programs (one at Georgetown), and the list goes on
PERSONAL STATEMENTS: Very good, about my struggles with ADHD without medication and how I have persevered. The other is about my political involvement with the Obama 08 campaign and how much I learned from my 6th month internship and political involvement.
PREREQUISITES: All done
I bring out of state tuition with no financial aid.

My DREAM school is Cal. I’d do anything to go there. I would go there in a second if I get in. Either way I’m headed to Cali next year. Please be honest with my chances!!

Can someone chance me??
G.P.A: 3.9
Major: History
Pre-req’s: done
Igetc: Will be certified after this semester
TAP: Getting it done.
TAG: Gonna apply for UCSD
EC’s: I volunteered at a childcare facility…worked every summer for the last 6 summers as a swim instructor at my city pool… I need more E.C’s dangit haha.

my only dilemma is that I was planning of studying abroad spring semester, but if I do that I won’t finish the honors program (I just need one class!) and therefore won’t be TAP certified. Should I stay or should I go lol. My advisory says UCLA has been rejecting 3.9’s and 3.8’s if they are not TAP certified. True?

@ strive101 Thanks, your opinion is very encouraging.

@ AlFieldsAreReq You should be in at UCI but UCLA can be a tossup as you have a good major GPA but then again so do other realistic UCLA applicants.

Also, you’re listing your credentials from high school, I’m a UC to UC transfer too and I was under the impression that they’ll only want to hear about what we’ve done after college has started.

@jvo331 75% chances if Informatics is not an impacted major at UCI.

@MNBADGER2011 You have some pretty impressive EC’s but considering you’re going to be an out of state transfer applicant, it’s a long shot for Cal but your odds look good for USC since they don’t seem to discriminate out of state vs in state. I’d say Cal 40% and USC ~65% Your GPA could be stronger for those somewhat popular majors.

@tragicxeyes If I was in your position I would play it safe and finish up the last class if going abroad could jeopardize all the hard work you’ve done so far, it’s a gamble not worth making.

UCLA- 80%
Cal- 80%
UCSD-90%
UCSB- 99%
LMU- No idea
Pomona-99%

Can someone chance me for getting into a Top LAC from UC Berkeley? I am currently a freshman, so my GPA is undetermined, but I am anticipating maybe a 3.3-3.6. My HS GPA was a 3.7 UW and 4.3 W. I will be retaking my ACT and hopefully hitting 31, but it is currently 28(29 Superscore). What can I do to maximize my chances of getting into a top LAC?

i don’t know if this is a ec: participated in bodybuilding competitions

long-term future plans: i want to get my personal trainer certification and possibly start my own gym or center, which promotes wellness!

Hello kittychen,
Sorry I don’t know what you mean…?
Starting my own gym is just an idea I had with my friends. I would like to help them out as much as I can with their goals but ultimately, I am very focused on my higher education. We don’t even know if that will work out.

But I know that at least, I wanna get certified with my friends because we have been involved in the fitness world for a long time.

I don’t see how bodybuilder’s trolling. Haas isn’t exactly easy to get into.

And even if he has a great chance of being accepted, what’s wrong with opening a gym? To own and efficiently maintain anything – from restaurants to gyms to paper companies – requires good business skills.

I didn’t understand UCkittychen’s comment, I would be happy the rest of my life if I operated my own gym… that’s what I love to do. What do you expect me to do, become one of those ibankers?

This is straight from Ms. Sun’s page about the transfer brag sheet:

I developed this brag sheet to help you think about how to write your UC personal statement. You can also use it to help you fill out the UC application…You can list extracurricular activities you did in high school on your UC transfer application, so you will need to jog your memory.

Major: Computer Science
GPA at time of applying: 3.79 UC-Tran/3.25 Everthing
Schools (in order of desire): UCB (L&S), UCSD, UCI, UCLA (incomplete pre-reqs so doubtful)
IGETC: Done Fall 2011
Pre-Reqs: UCB-100%, 80% UCSD/UCI, 50% UCLA (all this based on what is offered at my CC)

UCB has 2 pre-req classes that they admit most people can’t take in CC, those two I won’t have done. UCI/UCSD I won’t have my science elective or a high level math done. UCLA I won’t have the Physics and a high level math.

EC: I’ve worked full time in my field of study (6 years at the job, 4 most recent relating to my field) to support myself(independent) while being almost a full time student.

I am doing TAG for UCSD as my backup plan and I don’t think I would have a problem getting into UCI. My top choice is UCB. I know I should have more ECs but in all honesty I’ve had 12+ hour days for the last two years with work and school. Leaves almost no time for other activities. I would imagine I’m not a shoe in but I think I have a pretty good chance for L&S. What do you think?

^ Nope, you are not eligible for TAG since your GPA is < 3.2. For UCLA, I say you have quite a slim chance but keep your head up, write a good personal statement and I think you will be in Irvine as a normal applicant!

^^ Definitely your chance is great. You’re right, there’s no way one can be a shoe in L&S, but your work experience is amazing, and you have done every pre-reqs except 2 (I assume it’s CS 61A and CS 70 then - since the first one can only be found at Laney while the second one is not articulated with any CCC I think), which leaves you with the personal statement. I’m a L&S applicant too, and I’ve got no pre-req except 2 semesters of calc completed lol

Hi everybody, chance me please? I’m applying to Cal and I just submitted the TAG for UCSD. But Cal is definitely my top choice.
Here are some statz:
Overall GPA: 3.8
UC-Transferable GPA: 3.9
EC: interning in a State Senator’s district office, Hospice volunteer work, Sutter Hospital ER/Surgery Ward volunteering, Co-President of PTK chapter and Honors Service Club at my CC

I’m applying as a Political Science major. I don’t have any of the major-related lower-division classes yet, but I’ll have them completed by Spring 2012, and IGETC certification.
I haven’t started any personal statements yet… Haha so chance me?
