3.09 at the moment. Up to 3.38 by the end of FALL.

92 units by the end of FALL.
Upward trend 1.5 to 3.09.
Pre -reqs will be done by this Fall, except for the second year of the language, will do by Spring before IF-Transfer.
EC’s: Cultural clubs: Korean, Intercultural, Alpha Gamma Sigma. Some volunteering in the library and for the city. Did some Spanish tutoring. Pharmacy Technician school?
WILL BE TAP’D certified by the end of this FALL.

UCLA for Linguistics and Asian Cultures and Language
Will finish two years of language. Did four years of Spanish in Highschool. All pre-reqs will be done by Fall, except for the second year of Korean.

UCI for East Asian Language
Can take the required English and the Asian history by the end of Spring before IF-transfer.

3.0 GPA flat, potential 3.22 after this fall

-Applying to UC Irvine (primary), UC San Diego (reaaach), and Cal State Fullerton (backup)
Major: Social Ecology (Urban Planning)

Started my college career with academic probation, went on the Dean’s List after taking a semester off, got an A over a course over summer to bring it to a 3.0 GPA, and now I’m working to get a 4.0 GPA (so the 3.0 turns into a 3.22).

GEs completed, Core classes will be done in the Spring. With a 3.0 flat, I know any UC is not exactly guaranteed, so if you’re realistic with me, I’ll still be appreciative. Thanks to everybody who gives me some insight.

I’m hoping to get into UCLA for Fall '12 as a Global Studies major.
Current School: CCC
GPA: 3.98 (All A’s and A+'s except for ONE shudder A- this past Spring Quarter)
Work: 25 hrs per week (paying my way through school is important to me)
Coursework: Will have all pre-req’s and IGETC done. Taking 17-19 units per quarter. One class each quarter has been an honors class.
EC’s: Past year–Honors Program, Participant in the Honors council, volunteer tutor
EC’s I will be adding this year: Tutor for my CCC, Starting a club, joining a club, volunteer tutor, and joining Phi Theta Kappa this fall. (took me a while to figure out which clubs at school I was interested in)

Will the EC’s I’m adding be too late? Are my chances strong with what I have?

One more thing! Are there any programs/classes offered at UCLA just for transfer students? I would love to be able to meet other transfers relatively easily!! Also, does the school offer any help in finding a roommate? I want to live in an apartment but I don’t know anyone I would live with down there.

Hoping to transfer into UCLA / UCI / UCSD
Major:
UCLA Psychology
UCSD Psycholgoy
UCI Psychology and Social Behavior
GPA: 3.72
IGETC: Will be completed by Spring 2012
Pre-reqs: Will be completed by Spring 2012

No Tag or Tap

EC’s: Mission Trip to Abroad for 5 consecutive years/Psychology Club/Christian Club/Church/ Community Service teaching younger students English / Table Tennis Association/
Work: Home Tutoring Sessions on Weekends…(earn about $100)

My only concern is that most of my pre-reqs will be done during the Winter and Spring Sessions… will this affect my admission?

application opens next saturday, everyone excited?

lets see…

@jtsang2373, nothing but to say but - IN @ UCSD & UCI. GPA is stellar, IGETC completed & pre-reqs & UCSD is a med feeder school so everyone will be caught up in a natural science major. UCLA should be IN, just write a strong personal statement & you will be a great candidate.

kmac777, no comment.

seafoodsifu, I am saying yes to UCI, but no to UCSD & I’m guessing in @ CSU Fullerton, you can try to write an excellent essay and finish strong by the end, but I really think no to UCSD.

iwillflyby, just expect UCI pal, not ruling out UCLA but it might be a small possibility because it is a very popular international school for a lot of asians in the major you are in - I THINK.

@Uckittychen wait why no comment kmac777 he has a similar to mine and I’m really curious, can you add ec this year? Cause I’m doing the same thing. Also what if my 4.0 gpa is primarily made up of 3 and 4 on ap test will this affect me negatively? Thank you

Anybody know if an english major at UCLA is competitive? I have a 3.8 gpa extra curriculars/volunteer experience but I’m not sure if my chances are decent. Thanks!

School: UCLA
Major: Mathematics
Cumulative GPA: 3.74
Major GPA: 3.36 (but only 3 classes from here)
I’ll finish both IGETC and Pre-Reqs for UCLA by Spring 2012
ECS: ASO Mathematical Sciences Senator, Alpha Gamma Sigma, 2-Years of Leadership in high school, ASB in highschool, Key Club, Private Tutoring, Church, Honors Transfer Program for my CCC (TAP)

Fall Units: 16 units
Spring Units: 9 units

Chances/advice please? (:
Also, if I do mediocre this fall semester, how big of an impact will it have it I drop to a 3.6~ish cumulative?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently a student at UCR, trying to transfer to UCB or UCLA as my first choice universities. Please chance me!

UC GPA: 4.0
Junior transfer
Major: Anthropology
32 Units from AP, 36 units up to now and currently taking 17 units

Will complete all my GE’s by the end of this year and will be done with my major pre-reqs by the end of this quarter. I participate in clubs and have done research in a psych lab (was going to be a psych major). Only thing I am worried about is my Fall quarter from last year (wondering if that will affect my chances…)
Dropped 1 class (pre-calc) so I have a W, and also have two S/NP classes due to a freshman seminar and a chem workshop. I couldn’t choose to do it on a grading basis. I only had 9 units that quarter 5 being S/NP.

Thanks for the feedback. Hoping I can successfully transfer this year!

Hello everyone, I’ve been lurking for quite a while, but finally decided to make an account.

School: CC
Will be applying to: UCSC (sociology), UCLA (women’s studies), USF (sociology), Santa Clara (sociology), LMU (sociology), USC (sociology), CSULB (sociology), Cal Poly Pomana (sociology), Marquette (sociology), Whittier (sociology)
Major: Sociology, for most other than UCLA.
Cumulative GPA: 3.1
ECS: MEDPEP at UCLA, Pre-Health club, N.A.M.I, Circle K, Honors program (will be honors certified by next Spring), a whole bunch of clubs in high school. Will also be applying to an internship at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, so hopefully I get into that. Volunteer at an elementary school

Fall Units: 13 units
Pre-req: Most done, I believe I only need one more.

I’m well aware my GPA isn’t the greatest, but I hope to have it up significantly by next Spring. Unfortunately, life gets in the way sometimes, which caused me to do poorly for quite some time, but it’s no excuse and I’m learning from it. I got a 3.81 gpa last semester, so I know I’m capable of doing well.

Please chance me.
GPA: 3.51
Major: History
CCC student, finishing up igetc and all pre reqs this Fall
Will have 70+ units by Spring
Applying to UCSB and UCI, with a TAG to UCSD. I would really love to go to UCLA or UCB, but I don’t know how likely that is.
EC: Honors program, AGS for 1.5 years (life time membership), 50+ hours volunteering at an assisted living facility for the elderly, and I studied history abroad in London for the summer.
I work 25 to 30 hours a week, and I was in the army for four year, and served in Iraq for two years, so I have life experience. I don’t know how much that will do for me, but my professors have said it will be a big help.
Does anyone think I will have a shot at UCLA or UCB?

@repo11 Yes, you have a shot at both Cal and LA. Put a lot of effort into your personal statement. Cal likes non-traditional students. Also, I have a two Air Force vet friends who got into UCLA with ~3.4 GPAs (both Letters and Science majors). Good luck!

Hey guys, since application season is coming up, I wanted to know which major, either Psychology or Anthropology, would give me a better chance if any in getting into my first choice, UCLA. Im hoping to be a first-year transfer so my situation is a bit complicated.

1st Scenario (Psychology) Transferring from: CCC Applying to: UCLA Current Cum. GPA: 3.63 (from only two courses so far) Units Completed: 36.3 (41.3 units if I get in these two classes); will complete 60 units by the end of Spring 2012 semester
IGETC: Will be complete after Spring 2012 semester. Pre-reqs: 2/5 completed; 4/5 completed after Fall; all before transfer
Extra Curricular: None at the moment; thinking of joining Student Govt; not a lot of places in my community where I can volunteer that has something to do with Psych Others: ELC in high school

2nd Scenario (Anthropology)
Same scenario as the first, but differ in pre-reqs. Pre-reqs: 1/4 completed after Fall; all that I can (3/4) before transfer

I’m interested in both majors, but obviously I can only apply for one.
I have most of the pre-reqs done for Psych, but the admit rate (24.69%) is lower than Anthro’s.
On the other hand, Anthro has a higher admit rate (64.90%) than Psych’s, but I will only have completed one pre-req for admissions to see.

Which major would give me a higher chance of getting in UCLA? And, in general, do I even have a chance as a first-year junior transfer for UCLA?

^ I’d say apply as psych (impacted - you cannot switch into it once you get there) and TAP to anthro.

You definitely have a chance. For psych, it may be 50-50 but for anthro, it may be higher. If you cannot TAP, consider applying directly to anthro. Gl

Then maybe anthro is your best bet. You can try applying as psych and crossing your fingers, but I wouldn’t bet on that. I know a guy with 3.68 applying to psych last year and was rejected. He’s now taking some lame courses to boost GPA and try again this year :)
