@UCkittychen: Yes to UCI?! Really? That made my day! UCI is by far my primary choice. Do you know how competitive Social Ecology is? I know it’s one of the “less-desired” majors so yeah.

So TAP and 3.38 for UCLA is not good enough for Linguistics and Asian Cultures and Languages. Lames. I mean I don’t mind UCI but UCLA will keep me near home and has the most related degree name to what I want to do with my life. And it’s more internationally known.

Anyone have someone they know that got accepted/rejected from Linguistics for UCLA?

@seafoodsifu, i am saying that because you have a non-impacted major.

GPA: 3.40
Major: Biological sciences for UCD and USC, MIGM for UCLA, Molecular Toxicology for Cal
Major Prereqs done for UCD, UCLA; Done for Cal by Spring before Transfer
Strongly Recommended classes done by Spring
IGETC: Done
TAP and Honors: TAP For UCLA and honors
TAG: For UCI
Upward Trend
ECs: Some school club members, Honors Society, Hospital Volunteering 100+ hours still continuing, Musician.
Personal Statement: Pretty good.

Thanks sparkyboy, anyone else care to give some input?

Hellooo everyone! I am a California resident currently attending SBCC. This is my first year and I plan on transferring after one year.

I have 21 units right now, 18 from AP tests, and I took a 3 unit class over the summer and I got an A in it.

I plan on majoring in Psychology and I really want to get into to UCLA, UCSD, UCI, or UCSB. (Maybe some CSUs)

By the end of fall I expect to have a 4.0 GPA. And I plan on finishing my premajor reqs and IGETC requirements by the end of the spring semester. And I am doing the honors program here, so I am eligible for TAP.

Do I have any chance? (Feel free to ask me questions if I didn’t add enough information.)

Just a question everyone, do UCs still accept CC students over UC transfers let’s say, even if a UC student has a better GPA and EC’s and they are competing for the same major? I am not sure how UC admissions work… but just wondering.

^Unfortunately for us, I believe that’s the case for the UCs. However, people tend to disagree about this when discussing UCLA specifically. From what I can gather, some say that UCLA gives priority to CCC students over UC students. Some say that UCLA gives the same priority to both. I’m just going to assume that its the first case and try harder -__-

They do give priority to CCC students I just wasn’t sure how much of an advantage they have over 4 year college transfers or UC to UC. So far I’ve tried my best and I guess it’s just up to whether or not they want to accept me at this point.

Looking at the statistics for UCLA in recent years, about 33% of CCC transfer applicants are accepted, about 23% of transfer applicants from other UCs are admitted, about 10% of transfer applicants from OOS four colleges were accepted and only 5% of transfer applicants from CSUs were accepted.

Last application cycle, UCLA accepted 5005 students from 17,073 applicants for CCC transfers (29.32%). UCLA only accepted 195 students from 787 Students from other UC’s (24.78%). Make what you want out of that info.

[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students, Fall 2011 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof11.htm)

Wow the pool of students from CCC is really, really large compared to the UC student pool. Thanks for clearing it up, hopefully I can still hope of being admitted :X if not I’m going to have to try my luck with private colleges

GPA: 3.40 by end of fall (could be higher but this is worst case scenario two A’s one B and one C)
Major: Biological sciences for UCI and UCSD
Assist will be finished for UCI by Spring 2012, Short One physics and Calc 3 for UCSD
IGETC: Done
TAG: For UCI*
ECs: Volunteering at Church and worked part-time for a family friend on and off
Personal Statement: Average-Above Average
*The problem with TAG is that I had failed Calc 2 during spring 2011 and that had dropped my GPA below the 3.2 necessary for TAG; however, my counselor had told me to put it under AR since I’m retaking the class currently and will be finished before they look at transcripts. Does anyone know anything about a scenario like this?

chance me?
cc to ucla

my gpa at the end of fall will be a 3.57 BUT my main concern is that i dont know if i should transfer as an ANTHROPOLOGY BA or PHILOSOPHY, i have pre reqs done for both, its too late for me to do tap so i wont be tap certified but i will be igetc certified! thank you

@ fish10113: UCSD bio is 3.8 or above. UCI and UCSD doesnt read personal statement

@ blackmamba2410: Yeah i figured UCSD wouldn’t be possible. Do you have any idea about my situation with UCI or just how regular admission would go?

^ Not sure to be honest. The only shot for regular admission is that you have way better GPA than those TAG people since they have to guarantee TAG.

current GPA: 4.0
Schools: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, USC
Major: Business Economics
Alternative: Economics

IGETC: Will be completed by spring 2012
TAG: UCSD-economics

For on-campus involvement: Accounting Club, but not officer position

Jobs: 1. Tutor at a Tutoring Center
2. Receptionist at a Doctor’s office

Do they look at your high school stat’s? Because I don’t have much activities since I have work and is a full-time student. Will this jeopardize my chances?

GPA: 3.1 Right now 3.4 End of this semester
Major: the new Computer Game Science @ UCI. Comp Sci @ UCSD. Would like to apply to more schools, but the other school require physics and i haven’t work on that yet due to certain one requiring it and others not.
PreReq-Have everything for CGS @ UCI. Have the 7 base course required for UCSC. UCSD have igetc + most of the math and all of the CS completed.
IGETC: Done
TAG: UCSC

if there any other school i should consider to add please recommend me =P

First of all I want to say thank you to whoever takes the time and helps all of us asking questions, it really is helpful.

I am applying to UCLA, UCB, USC.

I was wondering about my chances of getting into one of the above universities, I have been nervous as it is nearing time to transfer.

42 units completed (all pre-req.'s/required classes are being taken/or completed -Calculus 1&2, Econs, Acct.'s, etc.)

Tutored for 6 hours a week during 2nd semester (Pre-calc. (2), Statistics (2), Econ (2))
I was also a mentor to children aspiring to be young entrepreneurs (or teaching them about). Also awesome opportunity! (NFTE program)

I do attend a C.C. college (should help). Attended 2 C.C.Cs.

I do also have one semester where I withdrew from all my classes (got all 3 W’s) due to a family issue and subsequently traveling.

Will be taking Calculus 2 (Math Analysis 2) and Spanish 2 (both pre-reqs) last semester before transfer (colleges won’t see grade received though I’m sure I will do fine).

Other than that, I am a decent writer, not superb by any measure. But will take my time and sure to write a descent prompt.

UCB is my dream school. Let me know what you think!

Again, Thank you all for helping, you all are great people!

P.S. uckitten I don’t have a 4.0 lol
