UCR Major: Biz admin
UCSD: Econ
UCLA: History
UCB: Political Econ
Current GPA: 3.6 (will balloon out to a 3.7 by the end of fall)
Predicted GPA for end of Spring: 3.8
TAG: UCR, UCSD (region x tag only requiring a 3.0; pipeline program)
IGETC: Will finish by spring
TAP: nope :frowning:
Extracircular/activites: San Diego MSA: treasurer, tutoring new immigrants, started a help relief program for kids in Somalia, Won 2 YMCA awards, Local Poem Competiton winner. Over 200+ community service.
Extra: First Gen College Student, minority, low income, Work Part time

@HelloG

Yes i did TAG UCR, but i am not sure if they will accept me because I heard UCR is getting strict with their applicants, since their % of accept students drop down by 11%. My current gpa is 3.05, and my goal for fall is 3.5-4.0. Hopefully i can pull it up to 3.4

Hi, can someone please chance me? Thank you!

UCI: business admin; business Econ (2nd choice)
UCSD: Econ
UCLA: business Econ
UCD: Econ
I would do Cal, but they have a different set of requirements I haven’t met yet  should I still apply?

GPA: 3.71; hopefully 3.8 by end of spring
IGETC: finished by end of Summer 2011
Prereqs: the only class I need to take left are calculus 1A and calculus 1B.
TAG: UCI’s business Econ. However, does this hinder my chance for admin? Would I have to drop my TAG?

EC:

 • leadership for my church every Saturday (involves community service) for 3+ years
 • officer of APASL (Asian Pacific American Students for Leadership)
 • APALI (Asian Pacific American Leadership Institution)
 • tutored kid every week (although this was in the spring)
 • put together a conference on Human Traffiking

@Esteaa: I don’t want to hurt your feelings but w/o TAP…3.71 isn’t gona get it done to UCLA. 3.81 won’t even get it done for Biz Econ. last yr average Biz Econ GPA was 3.94. You should be fine for the rest…but UCI Biz Admin is impacted severely. Biz Econ would almost be guaranteed tho at UCI. Good Luck. Hopefully you get in. UCLA->Long shoot :)

Someone Please Chance me…

Applying to UCI=Sociology,
UCR= bus admin,
UC Berkeley= Sociology
UCLA=Sociology
Major: Sociology, Minor in Accounting
Pre-reqs: Will have all Pre-req’s done by Spring
IGETC: Done by spring 2012
Current GPA: 3.69 (Currently)
Possibly 3.75 end of Fall 2011.
EC’s: -EOPS Honors Club Treasurer, Phi Theta Kappa, Volunteer at community center, Student Gov.

Out of State University to CC-> UC

Chance me for UCSB?
I’m a first year transfer so I’m only going with my fall GPA, which will probably be a 3.8.

Sociology Major, IGETC completed, I think all but one pre-req completed by spring. Possibly all, I’ll have to check. I’ll have 62 credits completed.

I’ve held down a job at a local soccer league for the past two years, training little kids. I’m also looking for a more regular job as well, possibly at Barnes and Noble. I have volunteered much since high school, but can I count unpaid work for the same soccer league? I have weekly, unpaid training sessions, and on the other hand I also get paid for helping at separate camps. ECs aren’t really that great, as you can see.

My essays are good: writing is my forte.

If it helps, I also got into SB as a freshman last year but decided to finish my GE at a local community college. I had already taken and passed 7 AP tests so I just wanted to save cash and finish up GE.

Chances would be great, as would suggestions for other places to apply in California! What about SD?

Justthegirl:

We’re in the same boat. I have 7 Ap’s and they make up for like 21 units. I only have like 30 units of coursework. I am also a sociology major…you should be good to go at UCSB w/a 3.8 You’re pretty much guaranteed. Just don’t apply to UCLA…(You could be taking that last spot :)) Just kidding.

UCLAProspect:

Thanks! I’m glad I have an ally in this lol and don’t worry; I’m not a huge fan of big cities so you can have LA  haha best of luck to you!

Applying to: CAL, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCR, CSULB, Chapman, & Cornell (for S’s & G’s) for Fall 2012.

No Tag

Major: Rhetoric for Cal, Philosophy for UCLA & UCSD, Political Science for the rest.

GPA: 3.61

Pre reqs.: None required for Rhetoric, finished for Phil.

EC’s: A.G.S. Honors Society and Model United Nations club

Upward Trend: 3 W’s, 2 C’s, 2 NC’s, and one F (retaken for an A) in the first couple semesters. Since then I have only been getting a few B’s and mostly A’s.

Hello,

Hello I was hoping someone would give me so advice, been trying with little success.

42 units completed (all pre-req.'s/required classes are being taken/or completed -Calculus 1&2, Econs, Acct.'s, etc.). Will have 58 units done after this fall semester.

Business Major:

3.978 G.P.A. (yes had one teacher give me an A- lol).
Will be transferring for Fall 2012!

Interned summers at non-profit loan org.
Currently working as a busser
Part of honor society-AGS, & CEO business club
Founded my own stock event
Tutored for 6 hours a week (Pre-calc. (2), Statistics (2), Econ (2))
Business Mentor

I do attend a C.C. college (should help). Attended 2 C.C.Cs.

I do also have one semester where I withdrew from all my classes (got all 3 W’s) due to a family issue and subsequently traveling.

Will be taking Calculus 2 (Math Analysis 2) last semester before transfer (colleges won’t see grade received though I’m sure I will do fine).

Other than that, I am a decent writer, not superb by any measure. But will take my time and sure to write a well constructed prompt.

UCB is my dream school. Let me know what you think!

Again, Thank you all for helping, you all are great people!

@ collegeisheaven: Pending you have all prereqs done (double, triple, quadruple check lol), you’re in at Haas.

@ Philosophizing: You’re in everywhere, but you’re a small reach at Cal. I lean to say you’re in if you write a good/great personal statement. Probably rejected at Cornell if it’s your first time applying. I’ve heard they give out likely letters or something like that if you’ve applied once before as a transfer and they like you. But I’m not crystal clear on how that works.

@ justthegirl: Apply to all the UC’s! You never know how your opinion may change when you see/experience the campuses. You can apply to SB, but I’d recommend other places too. You’re in at UCSB for sure.

Hey there…

Sgl Var Calc/Anlyt Geometry II-D

I retook Sgl Var Calc/Anlyt Geometry II and got an A over the summer.
I am only planning to take organic chemistry 1 and 2 over this semester and next.
I was just wondering how much will the C and D affect my chances?

@tomatoman: Hey dude, you seem pretty good at all schools…I don’t know much about UCLA but I don’t know if you major is impacted there or not. If it is…you have a slim chance. Otherwise, I think you’re pretty good. You’ll get into UCSD for sure. Disregard what everyone says about not having a 3.5 you won’t get in. Less TAG applicants this year = More room for lower GPA students 3.3+

@3min3m Hmmm UCSD is a long shot because that major is IMPACTED AS HECK…so I’d say you have a pretty fair chance of the schools you’re applying to. As long as it’s not impacted…you’re good…but try and get it up to a 3.2, 3.3 AFTER FALL. Good luck!!

Philosophizing: In at most schools…since your major is not impacted.

Chance me please. UCSD IS MY TOP choice.

Major: Sociology (NOT IMPACTED)
GPA: 3.34 (Including Fall)
Applying to: UCSD, UCR, UCSB.
IGETC: Done
Major Pre-req: DONE!

TAG FOR UCSB.

UCR ( haha OH…kay!, check!)
UCSB (check)
UCSD (saying 85-90% in)

Hi UCKittychen! <3
Alright…I looked at your stats on the first page… you’re in at all schools EVEN if you don’t TAG. Your major isn’t impacted and your GPA is good. Good luck and best wishes. And thanks for the chance!

Chance me please!

CCC —> UCLA

–Major: Physiological Sciences
–GPA: 7.2 (7.6 after this fall)
–IGETC: Completed
–TAP qualified
–All pre-reqs will be done: will have o-chem and physics rapped up by end of spring 2012
– Worked part-time most of my time at CCC
– In honor club and student body
– Have 2 W’s (in separate classes – separate semesters)
– Total time at CCC will be 4 years…

Your GPA is a 7.2? I’m sure you mean…3.2…correct?
