@EggyHam: I see. I’ll have my professors over at my CC to proofread my personal statement to see if it is good. Thank you for replying.

@ChenJiaXing There’s this guy in my CC that is there as a transfer counselor once a week, and he actually works in UCLA. He told me that you really should take classes that you think will affect your major based on “common” knowledge. So if you’re a Chinese major, I would say just take as much Chinese classes in your school, I’m pretty sure they have those because Chinese and Japanese are like the two Asian languages that are always present in my opinion.

And hey, maybe we’ll both get in. I heard Chinese is not that heavy to get in to in UCLA. And 3.64 sounds good.

@iwillflyby: That sounds reassuring. I should just calm down and relax. Chinese is not a impacted major, so chances are I will get in. Cheers~

Chance me pretty please

I really want uci!

@dh if you get a 3.3+ after fall, I’m 95% positive you’ll get into ALL except UCLA. Chance me?

If you say Dh can get in 95% positive with a 3.3 and you have it and the same major… wouldn’t that chance apply to yourself too?

I just recently transferred to Chapman University from Cypress Community College this fall as a business administration major. Over the time here, I’ve realized that I want to pursue an education in Computer Science over business. The computer science program here is not quite that spectacular and for much cheaper, I could be getting a much stronger compsci education at UCI. At Chapman, they consider me a freshman because I have 28 semester units. Once I am above 30 units then I am a sophomore.

I spent a full year and a summer semester at Cypress before Transferring

Desired Major: Computer Science

Stats:
3.2 unweighted high school gpa
4.0 College gpa
Academic merit scholarship awarded to me here at Chapman for 10k per year
Was board member three consecutive terms at Cypress Community College
Currently in Chapman’s Entrepreneur club
Started my own t-shirt business. Broke even then retired it and sold my assets.
Freelance SEO work. Worked on a site that now has 22,000 visitors per month and was started in April of this year.
President’s Role a couple semesters in High School
Currently working on a website with my brother

I am completing PreCalculus now and plan on taking Single Variable Calculus next semester. Also, I plan on taking Intro To Computer Programming and Visual Programming next Spring.

Thanks for your help and any advice you give,
JDS

Iwillflyby: DIFFERENT majors. He’s mostly applying with Psych. I’m not. So that makes a different.

iwillflyby: acoustic’s first choice is also UCSD.

acoustic: how many pre-reqs have you finished for UCSD Soc? 3.33 would have a pretty good chance with all of your pre-reqs done.

CHANCE ME PUH-LEEZ ^_^
Campus Applying to: [UC Davis (TAG), UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC San Diego]

Major: [International Relations (UCD), International Studies (UCI), Political Science/International Affairs (UCR), International Studies - History(UCSD), International Studies - Political Science (UCSD Alternative)]

GPA: [~3.2-3.4 by time of transfer]

School: [Foothill College]

IGETC: [YES]

Pre-Reqs GPA: [3.2~3.3ish. ALL pre-req for Davis is complete, for Irvine – most are complete( pre-req completion not mandatory) but couldn’t take all because I needed to stay under a unit limit for Davis TAG (will complete if i don’t get accepted in TAG). UCSD pre-req complete, UCR pre-req incomplete but not mandatory and UCR is honestly my last hope if I don’t get into ANYTHING]

TAP: [NO]

Essays: [Can you read them? ]

ECs: [Filipino Club in HS, Pass the Torch Tutor Experience, High Honors in 10th grade, Deans list Spring 2011, Volunteer work at Elementary school annex during 9th grade for a total of 20 hours.]

Zereshk: all my PRE reqs are completed :)

done this before with mixed responses…

Transferring as a junior.

Schools: UCSB, UCLA, UCD, UCI. UCSB is my main choice.

GPA: 3.85 pre-Fall, after Fall likely dip down to 3.5 area. Can’t avoid a C in math at this point.
Mira Costa
Expected Graduation Date: Don’t know.
Currently attending / Close to 30ish units completed, including two AP courses. Taking 15 units this fall, will have 20 by Spring. Kinda worried when I hear the average transfer student has 70-90 units completed BEFORE Spring.
IGETC will be done by Spring. I only have one math and lab left. Ugh.
No E.C in college - some volunteer work in high school, nothing related to my major which is non-competitive as far as I know.

Side question, do some UC’s have a winter quarter? If one is rejected for Fall 2012, can they re-apply in June for Winter 2013? I don’t think I have the tolerance for another two years at CC. I’ll just join the army or something, I’m sick of school.

ill chance a lot of you later this morning, check back.

does this look bad? my first year is a bomb.
