How bad is it to go down in gpa in this fall semester? I have a 3.43 gpa right now, 3 A’s, 4 B’s, and some AP credits. This semester I’m most likely going to get my first C in Pre-Cal. I’m freaking out over it, but about 80% of the grade is just tests and I’m not very good at math.

My grades have kind of been going down, my first semester is the only semester I ever got any A’s.
I’m applying to UCSD, UCSB and UCD for linguistics. By the end of this semester I’ll be at 3.3-3.4 gpa range. How bad is this C for my chances, especially at UCSD and UCD?

You should probably complete all of the pre-reqs for UCI. I’m pretty sure there is no cap on units for lower division CC credit. They are talking about upper division units when they say there is a unit max. I could be wrong, but you should talk to your transfer councilor and find out for sure.

UCLA and UCI still, but I was looking into Global Studies in UCI and just minoring in Linguistics, if I don’t get in UCLA.
UCLA is still Linguistics and Asian Language and Cultures, waiting for the release of this years admission rates by major.

@tomatoman- those C’s in Chem will kill your overall appeal to the UCSD since they want your major pre-req classes to be a good grade. UCSB you’ll get in if you did a TAG

hey you guys, I have a question. Would you recommend me applying in Psychology at UCD with a 3.1 GPA (expected by the end of the semester) with a 3.8-4.0 GPA in psych pre-reqs? Or should I apply as a sociology or other non-selective major because of my horrible GPA? I really want to go to Davis. I’m freaking out :(

@Kittty: Yeah, I believe it’s impacted. I didn’t TAG because I didn’t qualify for the 3.2 GPA requirement. I’m not sure what I should apply as because I REALLY want to go to davis. Should I apply with a non-selective major? UC Davis’ website says that students need a 2.8 GPA to be competitive. That gives me hope lol.

Yeah, I’ve seen 3.4’s get rejected from Psych. I spoke to a rep and he told me to apply as a psych major THEN a managerial econ major as my alternate. I’ll probably apply as a sociology major, but I won’t have too many of my pre-reqs done for socio. I’ll have almost all of my psych pre-reqs done with "A"s lol. What a waste Will they look at my pre-reqs? Or will they not since sociology is a non-selective major? Thanks!
