2012 Transfer Chance Me! Thread

^awww, you’re really on working up a hill. i hope everyone comes through for you.

IwillflyBy: Props to you! I took 11 units in the summer to raise my GPA between two different schools. Totally worth it.

I’m in two schools. I was actually in 33 units but I dropped my night ASL class because I really had no transportation the first few weeks of classes, then I dropped my PE class because it requires 64 hours of work and I found out it doesn’t even help my GPA.
I go to both school on the same day, taking public transportation in between.

EDIT: If I want to like an Adult school for like Pharmacy Tech schooling classes and stuff, do I note that anywhere in my application? Where?

That means at one point, I was going to three schools in three different cities. AHHAHAH!

LMAO! I’m doing the same! It’s hard but wrth it. And I love PCC. Uhm I’m not sure… Call and ask! They’re very helpful.

i know reposting is bad, but.
anyone?

A 4.0 for an international student is outstanding. Maybe a 3.9 would be a problem but a 4.0 is great. Think about it. That’s the highest one will get in the GPA scale…so I’d say that person is 95% in.

^^^^ Unless everyone else has a 4.0GPA. Then, you gotta start vamping up your EC’s and other stuff.

@Acoustic PCC is getting old. HAHAH. Third year, I’m a year behind schedule. I just tell myself that it’s not 2 years anymore, it really is 3 years now being the normal.

So yeah, where do I list the Pharm Tech stuff?

I doubt a lot of people will be applyIng with 4.0s. And tell me about it. It’s my third year too and I’m tired and looking to transfer.
You should call and ask about the pharm tech stuff. Call and ask!

Who? Call and ask who?

All and ask your top UC choice. I’m always calling UCSD asking questions. On the UC app website, there’s a number somewhere. Call.

Aigoo. But I don’t like talking to people. Hahah. I’ll just talk to Mr. Santiago. He’s a rep of UCLA in our school.

Do watcha gotta do. Darn I can barely get a class for Winter -_- it’s so packed!

I got History 2A and 2B. With ZARATE, good thing it’s online, but bad thing coz it’s online/ And Ling for the other history. Hope I’m not over extending again.

Hahaha you’re fine. No worries. I heard he/she is hard though  The only course I got os PEACT  Hm I’ll try enrolling in more.

will chance some people in a bit :)

@iwillflyby: you know how there are health fees and stuff at PCC you pay before registering? Do you know if I can get a refund on that? It’s like health fees and ASB stuff. It’s like $16 and I can only get one class and I wanna drop that class.

I think the $16 is refundable. I think I found that out last summer when I last minute dropped my class.

Chance:
3.09-3.3 for Linguistics and Asian Language and Cultures for UCLA and Global Cultures for UCI.
Will be TAP’d certified.
IGETC certified.
Strong upward trend.
EC: Volunteering, some Spanish tutoring, volunteered in the library. Korean Club, I think I will also be in Alpha Gamma Sigma, Scholar’s Option. Maybe even linguistics club.
Personal statement: How I got my GPA from 2.1 to 3.09 in a year, going to three different schools in three different country. Night and morning bus rides plus miles of walking.
^^^Make me sound like I live up in a mountain inaccessible by vehicles.
Pharmacy Tech school, dunno where that go STILL.

thx for the replies.

do you guys think job prospects will be much better if I do chem engineering at Berkeley vs UCSB? assuming I can get really high gpa at both places, probably higher at ucsb tho.

@Edoz835. Getting a job is all about you throwing yourself out there, how good you are at with interviews, internship, and overall qualifications/experience for the job.

Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.91
Major reqs: 4.0
Applying: UCB, UCLA, UCSB (TAG), UCSC, SJSU, SFSU
Will be IGETC certified by spring.

EC/honors:
– Vice president of the psychology club, member since my 2nd year of college.
– Secretary of the gay straight alliance, member since 11th grade.
– On a committee founding a women’s empowerment club, elected treasurer.
– Volunteer 10 hours a week at a center for children with autism.
– Phi Theta Kappa
– Dean’s List

Personal Statements:
– Prompt 1: I wrote about my triplet siblings, and how one of the three is deaf and another is autistic. They inspired me to want to major in psychology so I can help other families going through hardships. I also wrote about leadership in the psychology club and volunteering with children who have autism.
– Prompt 2: I wrote about being an immigrant and feeling like I was very culturally open minded. Then, when I was 16, I got a close look at Deaf culture. My brother uses technology to live as a hearing person, and I so I’d never seen it before. This experience opened my eyes to see culture in different places and inspired me to learn American Sign Language.

Chance me for Berkeley and UCLA, please and thank you? :)
