Hopefully there are classes for all of us if they accept the same number…

Remember…lets say UCSD accepts 8000 people. Of those 8000 accepted, only 1000 attend. I was in shock when I read this in their statistics…but yeah. It’s true. UCLA might have a less applicant acceptance pool though. :D

Does anyone know what my chances are?

current college: UCSB
college applying to : UCLA UCSD for businessecon/admin, and UCB for econ,
USC business
my top choices are UCLA UCB and USC
prereqs: done by winter
UC Reprocity: done by spring
cumulative gpa: 3.92 (It could drop to 3.8+ after this quarter)
ec: UCSB Honors program ( didn’t take any honors yet) , honors society
grade trend: 4.0 3.9+ 3.9-

i got two A-'s in prereqs( macroecon and stats) which would hurt me
and two A+'s in randome ge’s
I’m also worried about downward grade trend and lack of ec’s
I shall do my best in personal statement

Sorry, I don’t know your chances but may I ask your reason for wanting to transfer?

too cool for ucsb

Major: Philo
GPA: 3.8 including fall
Applying to: UCB,UCLA.
IGETC: Completed by spring
Major Pre-req: None offered for Cal, done for UCLA in spring
EC - Couple volunteer events, no clubs
Essay - 9/10

Hi everyone. I’m just wondering if it would even be worth applying to UCLA or just a waste of money. I’m 25 years old going to Saddleback College. I went to GSU (Georgia State University) before moving to California in 2005. My GSU grades are kind of bad.

Major: Philosophy/Computer Science
GPA 3.211 including fall. GPA will be a 3.313 after Spring (assuming I get a 4.0 which I probably will).
Applying to UCSB (phil - TAG’ed), UCI (comp sci), UCLA (phil).
IGETC: Completed (but not certified yet, I don’t think).
Major pre-reqs: Completed.
Work experience: Work experience at a business firm in Irvine as a marketing coordinator. I also worked as a software developer contractually and was part of two start-ups in the past several years. I have my own company right now.
EC: Volunteer at a soup kitchen from time to time. Played competitive video games until 2008, was on TV.

Grade trend:
Summer 2010 - 4.0
Fall 2010 - 4.0
Spring 2011 - 4.0
Fall 2011 - 4.0
(Dean’s List on all four, obviously.)

I have made up all of my F’s and D’s from my early Saddleback days but I have too many classes to raise my GPA much higher than a 3.3. Thanks for any insight!

Chances?

I was born and lived in California my entire life except the past 2 years while I have been in community college. I moved because of financial issues and want to go back. I pointed this out in my application…maybe it will make them think of me as an in-state transfer? lol

Applying to: UCLA, Berkeley, Santa Barbara, San Diego

CC GPA: 4.0 (math and physics major so the classes are on the level of calc 3, diff-eq, calc-based physics, linear algebra, chemistry, biology, java programming, etc.)
Also, I know I am applying from OOS, but I will have all of the types of classes they want completed as shown on IGETC

ECA’s:
-Dance/gymnastics training/performances
-Chamber singers, baritone section leader, performed in musicals, concerts
-Math/Physics tutor at my CC
-3 hrs a week teaching adult learners English as a 2nd language (comm service)
-Phi Theta Kappa member
-Applying for Department of Energy Summer Internship which I think I have a good chance of getting

Essays- I think very good, other people do too. Wrote about passion and drive for science and specifically physics for the first prompt, and wrote about my contrasting passion and experience in art through my time spent with dance in 2nd prompt

briceies you go to elco too? haha so far your the only one ive seen on this thread

Everyone on this page is in at all schools. Hey @dumbguy: Philosophy isn’t impacted at UCLA and I’ve seen people get in with 3.2’s…so you might have a chance. I kind of doubt it though. But the rest you’re good.

Current College: CCC Transfer

TAG: UCSB

ESSAY: Not to sound cocky, but … really good. I had the opportunity for Professor Sean Burns (UCSC Professor) to help me revise it, and he said its brilliant.

@leventel: If you get a 3.3+, I’d say you’re in at all except UCLA. You need at least a 3.5 maybe for them to acknowledge your application. History isn’t impacted there…but its UCLA and you know…

Someone else chance leventel. ^^^ I wanna hear everyones opinion because we have the same stats (3.33 major after fall. I’m 100% sure)

@Acoustickitty123

You and leventel have the same stats? But leventel has a 3.79 GPA…

Joxy: Leventel has a 3.19 (3.3 after fall 2011)
correct me if I’m seeing wrong. I checked a million times.

The guy that posted above him/her has a 3.79.

@Acoustickitty123

Yess you are right, sorry! I’m too tired to think correctly! lol

Lmao it’s fine!

Lol!
I stared at my post for like 3 minutes, rereading it several times, to see if I typed 3.79.
Just to clarify for any tired people. I have a "three point fourteen (3.14) GPA.

;D

And can one more person chances me, please?
