@PsychBruin

I am looking at Cal (TAP), UCLA, or SD (TAG) as my top choices, in that order. Actually, I’d put SD before LA 'cause I am sick of this town, lol.

@cookthepuppy

If you have a 3.5 or a high 3.4 after this semester, then I can say with a good degree of confidence that you are in at EVERY one of the schools you applied to with your major, including UCSD. One of their adcoms told me that a 3.4 is competitive, and you’re already there. Best of luck, though you don’t really need it.

You’re welcome @Cook! Dint worry. You have a fab GPA. And I agree about the 3.4 thing ^^^ Here’s the thing…if you have a 3.3 and you’re applying for Biology at UCSD, I think the 3.4 competitive GPA will apply. As long as your major isnt impacted, I believe at 3.3+ is guaranteed in. (The wise words of my smart counselor) lol

^ I wouldn’t say guaranteed, that will give him a high hope, at the end, he will fall real hard. I would say a REAL CHANCE instead of guaranteed
No body can guaranteed ur admission beside TAG.

Like I said “The words of a smart counselor”. Not mine. But yeah I agree with Ferrari. :P

To anyone else hasn’t chanced me, just for hecks sake. Thanks :)

College: Foothill College

GPA: 3.27 (3.30 by end of Fall)

Units: 120 quarter units of 2-year and 4-year transferable college coursework.

Applying to: UCSD, UCI, UCD, UCR, UCSB

Major:
UCSD - International Studies-Political Science
UCI - International Studies
UCD - International Relations
UCR - Global Studies
UCSB - Global Studies

IGETC: YES

TAG: NO

PRE-REQ: Completed all the pre-reqs for UCI, UCD, UCR. UCSD had none listed and UCSB is about 70% complete. UCSB though does not require entire completion of per-reqs to be admitted.

Extra Curriculars:
Educational prep Programs: 2 quarters of Pass the Torch (tutoring) Leadership Training
Volunteer: Elementary School Annex 20 hours
Work Experience: Pass the torch team leader (tutor) for two quarters
Awards and Honors: Deans List 6/2011, High Academic Honors 12/2006

Personal Statement: Pretty good!

P.S.: I went to Cal Poly SLO first quarter of college after graduating high school and withdrew after first quarter because I didn’t like it. (Didn’t have AP so don’t worry about that. I made the choice myself). I believe that only one of the courses that I took that quarter could be transferred to a UC because the rest were major courses that they had AUTOMATICALLY signed me up for in order to get students out after four years. (Damn SLOs policy on choosing a major right in the first year coming in…)

@cookthepuppy: No problem! If you ever want to talk, you can PM me! I am sure we can bring your stress level down! I think I stopped stressing as much… Once I hit the submit button. You’re right. Knowing I will be sitting either at UCSD/UCLA/UCB makes me kind of happy. Which I guess is nice. Wherever I end up, is kind of in God’s hands at this point. I really want to go to UCLA, but I mean if I get into Berk…aaahh not sure! I swear, April needs to come sooner! :] If we all end up at SD we definitely need to throw a party in La Jolla!

@asphyxiac: WHATTT? You are sick of LA? I am sick of Nor-Cal! I would love to go to school somewhere in So-Cal! I live like 25 minutes away from Berkeley so it’s kind of the same old thing for me. But, I know you’ll have a lot of fun up in the Bay. You’ll get in with TAP! What’s your major?

@TaLLLuDWiG718: Have I chanced you yet? How impacted are those majors? Sorry, not familiar with those majors! :/

I… think it’s only impacted in Davis. Or that’s the only one for sure. You’re a popular name on the forum recently, you probably have chanced me, I don’t remember though. Haha.

@PsychBruin: So down for that! :)

@TaLLLuDWiG718: Hmmm…did some quick research. You will probably get accepted to Riverside. Irvine/Davis/Santa Barbara…I think their GPA is like a low 3.4issh average for all majors without TAG. I think you have a good chance at getting into Irvine/Davis/Santa Barbara. Same thing with San Diego, it’s a little bit more competitive, however looking at your extra-curricular activities you might have a shot! Why didn’t you TAG?

Yeaaah, I try to check back on this forum once in awhile. :]

@Acoustickitty123: If you get accepted, are you planning on going to Sun God? :]

Sad story… because TAG cumulates (if that’s a word) both 4-year and 2-year GPA regardless of if it’s transferrable my GPA went down to a sad 3.19 out of the 3.20 required for UCD. My transfer GPA though was 3.27 before the end of this quarter.

@PsychBruin: OH YES! Hope to god I get in an can experience that haha

-______- heres to the slowest 4 months ever…

@TaLLLuDWiG718: Oh no! I am so sorry. That happened to a lot of applicants this year!

@Acoustickitty123: How long have you been at a CC for? Can’t wait either. I’ve lived in the same town for 20 years!

@UCkittychen: Seriously. I honestly think it will speed up during winter break :]

@Psych: This is my third year. I stayed to finish up a couple of premed requirements.
I’m excited to transfer. 115 more days 'till April 1 lol

@PsychBruin

I applied to Cal as CS in L&S, but the plan is to double major with MCB. People say it’s nuts, so we’ll see. I might just do MCB with a CS minor 'cause I’m super up on my MCB pre-reqs, and take some fun classes (like Filippenko’s AYC10 course) so I can stay full-time for 4 semesters.

For UCLA, my major is computational biology (math minor), and for SD it’s CS/Bioinformatics.

those sound like crazy majors, i hope you have a wonderful life with those career prospects…

the wait BEGINS!!!.. but im hella impatient though @.@ :[

115 more days LMAO

@Acoustickitty123: NO WAY! I am pre-med as well. What classes have you taken so far and will you be doing the rest at UC? Yaaay, let the countdown begin!

@asphyxiac: That’s crazy! I could never do that…I hope the best for you! :]

@UCKittychen

CS is what I enjoy. I like biology as well. Computational biology is simply the intersection of those two fields. I’m not sure what else I’d want to do with my life, given other options. I mean, if I could, I’d just be an archaeologist and travel through the old world studying ancient hermetic texts or something, but there’s no money in that. Gotta have the skills to pay the bills, and luckily, CS majors usually do pretty well. And since I like doing it, and I’ve done well in my coursework thus far, I don’t see any reason to not major in it.

But yeah, I have no idea what I want to do, outside of research. I don’t know if I’d be more interested in bioinformatics or protein prediction or synthetic biology, or what. That’s what college is for, right?

@PsychBruin

Thanks! And likewise. Maybe we’ll run into one another UCLA next year, lol.
