@Ferrari4XD, did your friend take PHYS, MATH, and CHEM all together during a semester? Reason I ask is because took those all those classes during a semester, usually people split them throughout the year…

3 5Unit classes during one semester… is that impressive? or does everyone do it .? because alot of my friends dropped at least one

I don’t know what he is taking at that time, but he did finish 3/4 of the prereq after fall. Same situation as you, and he got all As for fall. Fall grades pretty much give him the chance go to UCB. It happened 2 years ago. I say it is unclear at this moment, but u have a good shot at it. This is UCB and we are talking about mechanical lol, it’s not like a cake, and always make people nervous. I say keep up the spirit.

Schools applied to: LA, Berkeley, Davis, Santa Barbara, Irvine, Santa Cruz.
GPA: 3.7
Major: English.
Pre-reqs: Finished all the ones available to me (English 17 & English 45A; English 45B & 45C are not available).
IGETC: Done by Spring 2012.
TAG: No.
EC’s: Published poetry in my CC’s literary magazine. Other than that, not much to report. I did work as a copywriter for about a year and I’m currently conducting surveillance on the side as a private investigator (which involves typing up reports as well).

Chances for Berkeley? It’s my #1 choice. Thanks. :)

Hey @Itsgoodmetal: You look like you have a fabulous gpa…but it kinda seems a bit low even for Berkeley and LA. Do you by any chance know that stats of last years English major acceptances at LA and Berkeley? I know there’s a website for LA…but no clue on Berkeley. I would say you’re in at all…and a good shot at LA but not Berkeley…depends. I’ll try to find out for you. Best of luck :)

@itsgoodmetal
bro, set ur ccc here + major
[Welcome to ASSIST](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)
and tell me which courses have u completed, and I will chance you.

Schools applied to: UCLA, UC Berkeley, Santa Barbara, San Diego.
GPA: 3.87 (hopefully 3.89 after this Fall)
Major: Economics.
Pre-reqs: Done.
IGETC: Done by this Fall.
TAG: UCSB.
Essays: 1. Talked about how I decided to study Economics through my experience at a developing country and its socially inequality, as HS Student Government President and after reading a book by a renowned economist. 2. Discussed how my multicultural heritage (originally from Germany, moved to Brazil living there most of my life, and finally immigrating to the U.S.) makes better prepared for a more globalized world.
EC’s: Lots in High School (don’t know if it counts), including Student Government President and accomplishments in sports. One semester as advisory Senator and member of the financial committee of my CC student government, AGS, Library volunteer, math tutor, little work experience.

Also, got an -A in Calc 1 and 2 I thought it would sound pathetic explaining an -A so I didn’t. Hopefully it was the right decision.

Chance me please Berkeley is my first choice.

Alright guys. If one person on this thread says you have absolutely no chance of getting into UCLA or UCB or even UCSD, don’t get your hopes down. Research yourself…look at old acceptance threads and talk to your school counselors and ask them to chance you it is heartbreaking to hear that you wont get into your top choice because someone on this thread says so. Do your own research. There’s four months ahead of us and Id hate see you guys bummed…hope I helped.

no, don’t disregard us saying you won’t get in. were are not here to sugar-coat anything. these are peoples lives. Besides by us saying that you won’t get in, whats the worst that’s gonna happen?

Just because you have a 3.7 doesn’t mean you’re golden, KNOW that a lot of UC admissions are RANDOM PICKS. People get rejected with 3.8’s, then they come back here asking “Why?” OR they go to Yahoo Answers, this i know because on google i see stuff like, “why didn’t i get accepted into berkeley” and people give answers that are nothing critical or precise like the ones we will give here.

I say keep us update with your fall grades guys. example in my case, my gpa was 3.2 before summer. After summer i got 3.4, and after this fall it goes up to 3.7 near 3.8. Things can change quickly so keep us update :).

True that. Just dont get discouraged…or happy…you’ll get in somewhere. Good luck to all of you. Stay safe, stress-free. These months will pass fast Just focus on your finals and all. Much love

Can u guys chance my official stats? Many things have changed during the past month, and I applied to different schools as well.
gpa 3.7 after fall. If I get a B then 3.6 xD hopefully not.

EC: not much, working for half of year at some public school. Volunteer hours around 40 til now.
PS: 7/10 ?
Prereq: UCB done, UCLA done UCI done UCR( missing computer science) UCSB done UCSD done.

Where is this information coming from? Do you have anything to base that upon?

Ridiculous. I’m done with this forum. Best of luck to you guys, but I personally can’t deal with the amount of misinformation and needless negativity that’s thrown around on here.

Good luck on finals & keep fighting the good fight, transfers :)

@Enjolras: Cool stats dude. Based upon my knowledge, I’ve noticed that UCLA and UCB accepted a lot of those with GPA’s around 3.8+ with majors like yours. Bio majors will get into UCLA with 3.6. I’d say you’re in at both. Your GPA is great. You should read through some acceptance threads from last year. What’s your top choice again?!

can someone chance me, please!
