I realllllly hope i can get into at least ucd or ucsc i want to stay in norcal

@IwantIT: since you’re an international student, UCs will be a bit tough on you. Even UCR and UCSC. but you have a fair GPA and your major isn’t really impacted at UCSD, UCR, and UCSC. I don’t know about the rest of the UCs. You have a good chance at UCR and UCSC. The rest I’d say not really. Is that your GPA including fall semester grades? Wish you the best.

And I agree about the not counting last two semesters. AT LEAST winter should be counted :/

Btw sorry if I haven’t chanced many of you. Been in Vegas for the past week.

@Acoustickitty123: I thought they would be a bit easier since I am giving them over 50k a year lol. Yeah that’s including the fall semester grades. I got a A+,A,B+, and C+. The C+ was in Hindi which is a second language that I am taking so not sure how much of an impact it has. I already have another language that I have proficiency in ( took the test at UCLA). Thanks for your input.

@iwantit2012

try to apply to USC and let c what happens.

No problem
So expensive
What is your top choice? I’m assuming UCLA and UCB…since that’s mostly everyones top choice. There are a bunch of threads from last year that include stats of admitted transfer/international students.

My top choice would be UCB, but I am happy with UCD or UCSC as well. I applied to the So-Cal schools just as a backup but would really like to stay in Nor-Cal.

I’ll look into USC but not sure if they ask for SAT’s or other high school stuff.

Since u r international student, no matter where you go, ur fees still higher than normal student. I would look into private university, not only UCs. A lot of international student at my ccc are transferring into USC.

^^^exactly!!! USC’s app isn’t due until I think February? Or January? Not sure but private schools care more about money than public schools.I applied last year and they never asked me for SATS. Wonder of they will ask you since youre a transfer student.

Yeah but USC is 60k a year and I realllly don’t want to go to So-Cal lol.

I really thought I’d have a pretty good shot at UCD and UCSC now i’m not so sure…

Any recommendations for private colleges in Nor-Cal?

stanford is a good private school

Honestly, were not pro chancers here and dont want to discourage you. You should do some research and check out old threads of accepted students. That will for sure give you some type of idea if you find someone with the same stats.

I’ll probably end up applying to Stanford and Santa Clara as well it seems. thanks for the help everyone

You’re welcome
Wish you the best and happy holidays!!

ahem…:P. could someone please chance me on page 77? Would really appreciate it :)

In at UCSD and UCSB…since you have tap, you’re mostly in at UCLA and Berekely. Wasnt last years psychology major admit around a 3.6 GPA? With tap if let’s say the average admit for psych was a 3.6, you can get in with a 3.5, 3.45 only because you’re tap certified. Good ps and ec is key. Big time.

Thank you acoustic :)

@mikey23s

wow really? I explicitly avoided applying to haas even tho i wanted to go there, because i thought my chances were too low in comparison to other haas applicants :S

The UCLA rep that visited my community college explained to us (or at least the psych majors) that without completing practically everything on assist.org for UCLA your application will not even be considered despite a high GPA
Sounds crazy to me, but it’s what I was told :/

I wonder if the 3.5 TAG for UCSD will affect those with 3.33-3.45 GPAs applying with non-impacted majors…
I talked to my counselor and he said that only disadvantage would be that you don’t have guaranteed admission. So basically that means people with high 3.2 3.3 3.4’s have a chance.

What do you all think?

^^ i think the new 3.5 tag for ucsd will help those near a 3.5 and take out the low gpas from the competition. i think 3.3 - 3.4 will have a better chance now. last year, some people with a 3.0 with tag got in and some with 3.5 without tag got denied! which i thought was stupid…
