@Vikram: They really dont look at it! Lol I talked to so many counselors. UCLA and UCB only care. The rest don’t and that’s a fact. I know, I worked hard on mine too.

@UCKitty: Keep posting your stats if no one chances you. That’s what I did.

@Hellolily: Your ps is fine. That’s what they want to hear.

UCB, UCLA, UCSB, UCI, UCSC; Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.91 when applied, 3.93 after fall quarter (major reqs/GE are both at 4.0, if it matters)
IGETC will be done, prereqs for LA and Cal will be done, most prereqs for the other UCs will be done.
EC: Psychology club officer, Women’s empowerment club officer/co-founder, Gay-Straight Alliance officer, Volunteer work with children who have autism, Studying American Sign Language/involvement in the Deaf community, PTK

I posted once already, before fall grades came out, and someone said UCLA isn’t a sure thing because psych is so impacted. Would the tiny difference in GPA after fall make a difference? I’m a bit worried because it seems like so many people do TAP…Just how high of a GPA would you need for UCLA without it?

You have a 3.93 and someone said UCLA is a reach? I think you’re in my friend. I mean if you had a 3.79, I’d say eh so and so…since psych is impacted at UCLA. You’ll have a 3.93 after fall so you’re on the right track. How many Prereqs are you missing? I know UCLA and UCB care A LOT about igetc.

Looks like I am not getting into UCLA psych with a 3.73…■■■. Oh well, it was definitely worth the shot. I know I have a better chance at UC Berk w/ a sociology major!

Ah I think I’m confusing sociology with psychology. I know for sure if you have a 3.73 applying to UCLA you’ll get rejected bc its soooo impacted. But I’ve seen people get in with 3.7+ to UCLA with psych. Just hope for the best guys :)

@kittychen: With your GPA/major, it’s safe to say that you have a good shot at UCI. The most competitive majors there are Nursing Science/Business Admin. Also, your GPA is within the range of most admitted students’ GPAs. I asked around and it seems that PoliSci isn’t as competitive as it is in most other UCs.

Hi uckittychen I did not tag because I need my math course which I am taking this winter. I really want to go to davis so I can change to clinical nutrition.

@Ferrari4XD: I had one A- in a 2.5 unit class my first quarter. Then in my second quarter I had a medical issue so I dropped out and got one C- (also in a 2.5 unit class), one W, one P, and two Fs. I took spring quarter off to get better and I’ve had a 4.0 since I came back that summer, including the two Fs I retook. So now it’s just the A- and C in a 2.5 unit choir class, out of 85 units. I explained that in the extra information section of the app, so I’m assuming they won’t count that against me…It’s kind of an upwards trend? I hope that’s how they’ll look at it.

@Accoustickitty123: I finished IGETC this fall. I still have two more major reqs for UCLA, one that I’m taking in winter quarter and one that I’m taking in spring quarter, and I’m taking my last one for Berkeley during winter as well. So I will have them done by spring. I’m missing one or two for UCSB, UCSC, and UCI though. :/

Applied to : Cal,UCLA,ucsd(tag)
Gpa:3.7
Major: Psychology
IGETC done after winter
Pre reqs done by spring
Personal statement 9/10 atleast
First gen
Good ECs

@Acoustickitty123: Thanks! So this is quite confusing. I applied to UCLA/UCD w/ Psych & UCB/UCSD (TAG) w/ Soc. So I know I’ll get into Davis and San Diego…but I know UCLA will be a REACH. I think I have a better shot at getting into Berkeley than UCLA…I guess we will find out! But, even then…I would be super happy to go to UCSD :]

@SBaz45: I have the same stats as you. I TAGed with SD and I applied to UCLA with a psych major. Honestly, I myself have no idea. We definitely have a shot, but it may be a REACH. One of the reasons why I didn’t apply to Berk with psych was because I knew it would be a long shot. For psych, it is close to a 3.82+, and for LA it’s now a 3.80+. I hope for the best! Good luck :]

Gpa 3.7
Major Psychology
Applied: Cal, Ucla
Pre reqs will be complete
IGETC will be complete
CCC student
First gen
personal statements 9/10
Berkeley is my first choice

@Newsoul: Good! That sounds good. Prereqs really matter for UCLA and UCB. Don’t even worry about missing prereqs for the other UCs. You’re on the right track I think you have a REALLY good shot at UCB and UCLA judging by the threads I’ve gone through and GPAs similar to yours that have been accepted.*

Are you tap certified? ECs and personal statement matters a ton! Good luck :)*

@SBaz: Average admitted applicants to UCLA last year was 3.81. However, you do have a chance if your PS and ECs are lookin good. I agree with PsychBruin that you have a better chance of getting into Berk than La. Good luck :)
