Even if it was an elective, your GPA will still be low ![]()
The only thing you can do is retake. You might have a chance at the cal states. I think you’re better off applying next year. You’ll have a higher GPA once that F is off your transcript. Best of luck and hope that you get into at least a Cal state.

Ok. Thank you much(:
I hope so too.

Youre welcome
Best of luck my dear! You’ll be fine

Good luck to you too(: maybe my gpa will increase in the following semesters

Thanks
You bet it will. Once you retake that class, the F will be replaced with a better grade and your GPA won’t be a 2.8.

@KittyChen

I have a 3.95 and I’m hopefully transferring to Cal…poli sci/rhetoric major

oh you’re way out of my league then…

I have applied to Sam Houston State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, UT-Arlington, UH-Downtown, and I have a cumulative 2.09, chances? I am transferring from a Community College.

^ coughs up blood

@rsg: Even for state colleges, your GPA is still too low. You can stay another year at your CC and raise your GPA.

[University of California - Counselor Conferences](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/news-events/conferences/index.html)

Scroll down to the Community College section, and check out the admissions director’s slides for individual campuses. They have a slideshow on evaluating international students too.

Some interesting data:

Cal:
16k applications
25% acceptance rate
95% of admits from CCCs
Mean admit GPA - 3.75

UCLA:
20k applications
27% admit rate
92% from CCCs
83% CA residents
Mean admit GPA - 3.69

UCSD:
17k applicants
45% admit rate
7611 admitted, 4800 TAG admits
Mean admit GPA - 3.52
They plan to change TAG criteria again for 2013 (?)

Anyway, yeah. Check it out. Some good info if you wanna chance yourselves and stuff.

Edit: Adding UCI/UCD/UCSB GPA data

UCI:
Mean admit GPA : 3.55 (!)

UCSB:
Mean admit GPA: 3.56 (!)

UCD:
1st - 3rd quartile admit GPAs: 3.26 - 3.74

Those GPAs seem way too high to me. Maybe I am just crazy.

Asphyxiac: Wow that’s crazy and surprising.

Sent from my Desire HD using CC App

Woah thanks for that asphyxiac. You know, I think that’s mainly the cutoff mean GPA for people applying with majors that are impacted. We’ve seen many people get in with 3.2-3.3. Even for SD. those numbers do seen a little high especially for UCI UCSB UCSD. ThTs why I think it’s mainly for impacted majors. What do u think?

@Acoustickitty123

Well, it’s just the mean, so there’s still 25% of the admits below 3.5 and 25% above. I’m just surprised 'cause the mean has risen a lot over the past two years (e.g. from 3.3 to 3.5 for UCSB). It’s a big leap for a lot of those schools, and now I’m less sure of myself.

That is a big leap
Don’t worry. I think you’re fine
I remember you having good stats.

i couldn’t see my powerpoint doesnt work, what are the means for uc davis, sb, and sc?

I know it’s low, but I talked to them that there is a high chance if it’s over 2.0 or near 2.1 regardless. I don’t want to stay another year at CC.

@asphxiac wow those numbers are reassuring. CCC students really have an edge. I hope that helps me when they are reviewing my app.
