2012 Transfer Chance Me! Thread

@evanmartin909, definitely in at UCI. Very good chance at USC. Decent shot at UCLA and Berkeley… most likely in :).

Please Chance Me.

Applied: UCSB (Econ & Accting), UCSD (Managerial Science), UCI (Business Admin),
Berkeley (Business Admin)

Transfer GPA: 3.3
TAGed at UCSB

 • Pre-reqs met for UCSB and UCI.
 • Most Pre-Reqs met for UCSD and Berkeley
 • IGETC will be done by Spring

Very good upward trend. If you remove my first year grades (currently in 3rd year, I’d have a 3.8). I’ve also held 4.0’s in the last 3 semesters (Fall 2011, Summer 2011, and Spring 2010).

Personal Statements: Didn’t really put much time into them…

Work Experience: Worked as an accounting assistant for a few months, then worked for a health care software company for about another 4 months.

Thanks for chancing me

judging from 3.3 gpa

UCI and UCB business program need atleast 3.8+ to be competitive, so in that case i would say that you have no chance.
UCSD, nope, no chance.

maybe you can get in UCSB :)

@Dark91: I really think you have a chance at UCSD and UCSB. You tagged at SB so id say you’re good. And your major isn’t impacted at UCSD so I’d say you have a great shot. I don’t know about UCI…but if it’s impacted there…then I’d say you have a 50/50 chance.

I saw a ton of people get in without tag at UCSD last year without 3.3+. Anyone have any other input? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t know UCI’s business admin major was impacted… but some of my friends got into UCI with lower GPAs for business admin. Where are you getting 3.8 for UCI?

No problem. Well when majors are impacted (which your major isn’t for UCI) and you’re applying without tag, usually a 3.8+ is the GPA they expect to admit you. Your major isn’t impacted. So I’d honestly think you’re at a good shot.

^@ business admin is SUPER impacted at UCI, nearly, neck to neck with UCB. Also, Mana Science at UCSD nearly impacted behind econ. 3.3 is not possible to get in.

all of my words are confirmed, if you want evidence, I will provide them.

Oh my bad. I thought it wasn’t. On the UCSD page it says like all the biological science majors are impacted along with engineering. But I could see why business would be impacted. Same with UCI. Meh we still have to wait another 3 months :)

ppl do your own research before posting or reading someone else’s post on here. There might be bad info.

Engineering is NOT impacted at UCSD, only 2 majors are: mechanical and bioengineering.

“along with engineering” implies all majors.

I said “along with engineering”. There are different types. It’s not like I said “only aerospace engineering”

And I agree. Yeah do your own research.

updated my fall grades :)

Applying to UCB, UCSD as econ
UCLA as business econ & econ
UCI as business administration

Current School: CCC
GPA: 4.0
IGETC: only one English course left
Pre-reqs: only an accounting course for UCLA left

ECs: counselor for an IT firm as a system administrator, stock trading(doing a lot of TAs and FAs). current in charge of an Alexa ranking 8k website.
and 3 years big IT firm full-time working exp as a unix SA

listed in UCB TAP program

chance me again plz :)

Sorry for bugging so much :frowning: haha, but can someone chance me! Thanks!

@jbarra: I would love to chance you but I haw no idea about your major. Post your stats again if no one answers :)

@ucbecon999: I think you have an excellent chance at every school you applied to…oh and your EC’s are amazing too, which is a plus. The missing prereq for UCLA may hurt you a bit, but considering your EC’s are so strong I don’t think it’ll be much. Congrats and good luck!

Haha thanks just saw your message now. Here you go! :)

Major: Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 3.78
Schools Applied: UCLA, UCB, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, USC, UCSD
Major: Pre-reqs done.
EC’s: Robotics Club, Society of Physics Students, Engineering Club, MECHA, PTK, AGS, I also volunteer work at my local family shelter (tutoring, reading to children, mentoring) - 150+ hrs.
Work: I work as a lab technician doing mechanical testing and analysis, chemistry analysis, and other tests/I also work with engineers and run tests for them (I work 25-30hrs./week).

Thanks so much. :)

@Jibarra
UCLA is a chance
UCB Small chance.
calpoly x2 probably in.
USC = Depend on how many Ws do you have and how many repreated courses including Ds, Fs do you have.
UCSD in.

@ucbecon999
Your in everywhere.

Btw, How bad is it if I have 4 major prereqs left for Haas for Spring? Business, Econ 2, English 2, and Calc 1 (finished calc 2). If it wasnt for my late decision to apply to Haas I would have had these done.

Sent from my HTC Glacier using CC App

@Ferrari, really?

@jibarra, 3.78 is very good for ME at both Cal and UCLA, and considered your EC is pretty good too, u have a good shot for all the school u applied.

and for USC … that a money burning school, but relatively lower GPA requirment that Cal and LA…

I have a quick question, how badly does downward trends hurt you.

3.5 4.0 4.0 then 3.5

@Ferrari That doesn’t really look like a downward trend from my point of view. If anything they’d just say you slipped up a bit last semester.

Does anyone know if it hurts your chances if you only have the minimum 60 required semester units?

I was looking at the average units applied on the UCLA website and it seems like everyone applies with AT LEAST 70. I have a really good GPA, but I’ll only have 60 units after this semester
