I highly doubt that it will hurt your chances if you completed the prereqs for your major.

60 is what they require so don’t worry about it. Hell, more money for them…

A lot of people worry that if you have over let say 70 units (I’ll have about 90), it looks bad.

It doesn’t. Just letting you guys know :)

I raised my GPA from 2.1 to 3.23 in a year. I am going to be TAP certified. What are my chances of getting in for UCI’s Global Cultures and UCLA’s Linguistics now?

^ avg. GPA admitted to UCLA’s Linguistics program last year was 3.62. You obviously have a great upward trend, but it might not be enough to bridge such a gap. I wish you luck!

Of all the UCs I applied, I’m most interested in UCI. Chance me?

Major: Physics
GPA: 3.6
I’m an older student (30), and I was academically dismissed with a 1.0 gpa in 2003. I worked my way back up to a 3.6 with academic renewal and course repeats when I returned to the same college 6 or 7 years later.

Thanks for your input!

@Mikey23
Isn’t that over half of the prereqs?

Does it help to do more than just pre reqs? I want to go to med school so I finished the general Chem series on top of my pre reqs for psychology. Just wondering if that helps my chances

Yes, I think its about half.

Sent from my HTC Glacier using CC App

California Community College
Major: Business Admin. (UCI) / Bus. Econ. (UCLA) / Econ. (UCB & UCSD) / Econ. & Acct. (UCSB)
GPA: 3.94 (49 units)
Major GPA: 4.0 (Finished everything except for Calc. 2)
EC: VP of cultural club, event coordinator of international club, track and field in high school, tutoring, and few church-related volunteer works
Essay: in my opinion, not spectacular but okay

i got one b in my first semester. since then, it’s showing an upper trend.

Chance me please!

@caboy26

I think you’re in everywhere.

UCLA I think is the most chancey school for you since their business econ program is very competitive and impacted (?).

benyvaio// thanks for your input- my top choice of all is UCI business, but it would be really nice if I do get in everywhere haha

@unseeliesatyr

I think you should be in at UCI, especially since you have a great upward trend.

The average UCI transfer student GPA in fall 2011 was a 3.43 GPA.

Please Chance me please!!!

Essay: I dropped out high school and worked immediately and just attended college last year to reach my dream… I am 27 years old non traditional student… I only applied UCLA and USC any chances??? Thanks

@banddie

UCLA is going to be a reach i think, the average GPA admitted for your major in Fall 2011 was a 3.58. You still have a chance though.

I don’t know anything about USC since I have no plans on attending.

Hey bandiee
Check this out.

There are about three months until admission decisions get out. I’m still trippin’ balls.

I feel like those who applied with 3.3’s and even 3.2’s are trippin’ even more balls.
I also thought I’d share this though: since now you can only tag to ONE UC, I have a feeling that’s a good sign for more lower GPA people. Not like 3.01…I mean 3.28,3.3,3.35 etc.

And as for UCSD, I feel like the 3.5 tag requirement is EVEN better for people who didn’t tag and have 3.3 3.28 GPAs applying to non impacted majors. Even last year with the flood of tag applicants, we still saw a couple 3.2,3.3 get in with non impacted majors. I think there’s hope!

I want to transfer to UCLA and UCB as an engineering major but I’m in a bit of a dilemma. My first two years at CCC I took Calculus 1 and didn’t do so well the first couple of times. The first time I took it I dropped it and got a W, then I took it again and got a D. The third time I took it I got an A. I ended up getting all A’s in the rest of my math, chem, physics, and engineering courses execpt the third physics course (i got a B). Will I have a small chance of being accepted even though I have a 3.78 cum GPA and an upward grade trend. (I also have lots of EC’s related to my major). Please help me!! Thanks!

I am really thanks about these informations and replies!!

Thanks!!

Anyone want to chance me? Please, and thank you!

Applied to UCLA (Psych and Sociology) and UCB (Psych).
3.89 GPA
all UCLA prereqs finished, still have to take 1 for UCB.
non traditional, 29 year old, married student.
worked 25 hours per week, volunteered 4 hours per week.

Chance me for UCLA please?

Current school: UCSD (UC to UC transfer ehh, but it’s been said that UCLA doesn’t differentiate)
Major: Math/Economics (or Joint Math-Econ)
GPA: 3.79
Major GPA: 3.8
EC’s include a job, some tutoring, an internship, a little bit of study abroad, and a couple of positions in an org. I thought my personal statements were decent, at the very least!
I’ll most likely be missing one prereq by the end of Spring, mostly because UCSD doesn’t offer the course. :(

I also reported two Fall 2010 courses wrong (d’oh!). I ended up calling and emailing them and adding the corrections to the Additional Comments field per their advice. The grades were still A’s, but does anyone think this sad, sad mistake will still ruin my chances?

Aaaah I could use some superficial peace of mind! Thank you so much!!
