2012 Transfer Chance Me! Thread

<p>Hm. So I’m guessing OOS students really have it rough compared to you guys? I’ve been stalking the transfer admissions stats pages as of late…</p>

<p>It’s because California community college applicants do get priority</p>

<p>Give me a chance!</p>

<p>Transferring as a Junior at a CC.</p>

<p>School:
1.UCI (Psych and Social Behavior)
2.UCLA (Psych or Socio)
3.UCSB (Psych or Socio)
4.UCD (Psych or Socio)
5.UCR (TAGGED) ~Already in.</p>

<p>GPA: 3.06 now, potential 3.22</p>

<p>Pasadena City College
Expected Graduation Date: June 2012
Currently attending / 72 units completed
All Prereqs done.
Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society 10-11
Tournament of Rose Parade 2011 Intern, Pasadena – Formation Area Committee
Psych Club 11-12
Union Station Homeless Service 11-12
American Chemical Society 11-12
Association for Psych Science 11-12
Psi Beta Psychology Honor Society 11-12</p>

<p>I really want uci!</p>

<p>@dh: Awesome! I go to PCC too  Is your GPA a 3.22 AFTER fall? Or maybe after completing winter/Spring? I think it will be hard getting to all the other schools except UCD with a 3.03. Is psych impacted at davis?</p>

<p>Nah. It’s 3.06 now after fall. =[ 3.22 after spring if i can do it. I really want UCI!</p>

<p>Sorry but that’s too low. At least a 3.25 will do  Spring grades dont matter.</p>

<p>Well spring grades matter but it doesnt have anything to do with their admission decision.</p>

<p>@dh Psych is selective at UCD. I think it’s impacted at UCLA too. I’m not sure about the other campuses though. Your gpa is slightly lower than the average and due to the competitiveness of psych, I’d say you’re a coin flip (50-50). If you could bring it up to a 3.1-3.2, you stand a better chance at most schools besides UCLA. Cross your fingers and hope for the best! You never know :)</p>

<p>Chance me again guys!</p>

<p>UC GPA: 3.87
Major: Business economics (UCLA, UCI), Economics and Accounting (UCSB), Bus Admin (UCB), Economics (UCSD)
Pre-req completion: All pre-reqs will be done by spring. Just have calculus 2 left for spring (Aced calc 1)
Amazing upward trend. The only reason I have a 3.87 is because I received a C in a math analysis class I took at my local CC while I was still in HS in 2008.
ECS: Internships/job experience etc.</p>

<p>Let’s get some second opinions guys!</p>

<p>@Wizard. I thought I chanced you before?</p>

<p>UCLAs a reach (ECs and Essay)
UCBs a chance (Depend on your ECs and Essay)
UCSD this is tricky, since you only finished up to cal 2. I will give you a chance still.
UCI this is also tricky. But ur in
others are all in.</p>

<p>I think I’m almost 100% for uci, and ucsd…several people got in ucsd econ with just calc 1 last year. Also, uci requires up to calc 2 only for admission. </p>

<p>I looked upast years business economics admissions from people on college confidential and many people got in with much lower gpas/stats</p>

<p>I’m wondering, where are you getting your information from?</p>

<p>Google.com, experience from friends, classmates, strangers, acqua, admission record, and more google.com :)</p>

<p>@wizard55- If you demonstrated leadership, communication, and/or analytical skills in your work and ECs and you can demonstrate that in your essays and resume- you’ll get into UCB. How do you feel about your chances for UCB? I applied there for Bus Admin as well. And it’s my top choice.</p>

<p>Alright, updated stats, CHANCE ME!</p>

<p>UC GPA: 3.94
Schools Applied to: UCB/UCLA(TAP)/UCD(TAG)
Major: Political Science; most likely going to try and double major in Political Science and Rhetoric at UCB if I get in.
Pre-req completion: All pre-reqs are done except for my math requirement which will be finished in spring of 2012.
ECS: None really, just Honors program/work
Additional Info: IDK if this affects anything, but I took pretty heavy courseloads (21/18) during my last 2 semesters, and will be graduating with 70 units.
Essays: I guess they were alright, but it’s hard to judge your own essays…</p>

<p>Thanks.</p>

<p>Thanks for the chance akitty and vikram. I just want uci. I tagged for ucr but it’s just a backup. Should i just stay another year?</p>

<p>@dh: If you’re set on going to UCI, then by all means stay another year and try again next year. Try bringing your GPA up to a 3.2 so you can TAG to UCI and have no worries about getting in. However, the TAG GPA for UCI might be raised for Fall 2013. All hope is not lost yet though. You’re still in the 3.~ GPA range and anything’s possible. Keep your head up! I have a 3.14 and I’m a sociology major. I’m hoping for the best also! You still stand a chance, just less than someone with a stronger GPA. Good luck to you!</p>

<p>@^ if they keep raising the requirements, I wonder how many students actually will be at UCs system. We may witness another great system that can be near Ivy league schools.</p>

<p>@ Ferrari: I’m not yet sure if they’ll raise it, but considering the record amount of applicants the UC system gets, I can’t help but think they will. It gets more and more competitive every year! Hopefully since people only tagged to one campus we’ll have it easier. We won’t be pushed out by the large amount of 3.0+ TAGs. Rather, the 3.1+ range stands a chance because of the higher tag gpa. Coupled with a one tag only policy, I’m sure we stand a fair chance.</p>

<p>SOCIOLOGY/PSYCHOLOGY MAJOR</p>

<p>I am so nervous for April! Please take the time to chance me! :]</p>

<p>CC ----> UC
GPA: 3.70
Schools/Majors: UCB (Soc.), UCLA (Psych.), UCSD (Soc. TAG), UCD (Psych.)
I have received 3 W’s &4 D’s (Retook all of them and got A’s). A high upward trend from first semester until now.
Completed IGETC & PRE-REQS for all schools that I applied for. </p>

<p>EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
–Volunteer @ Hospital (2 years)
–Outdoor Education Camp (2 years)
–Community Service @ Church (4+ years)
–Clothing store (2 years), and have worked for restaurants and other places as well…started working at the age of fifteen. Also, I currently baby-sit a family of 2 kids.
–Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society
–Psi Beta Psychology
–Scholarship from college
–Student Government (Senator) (1 year)
–Tennis Team for college (1 year)
–Secretary for club on campus (1 year)
–Psychology Club (3 years)
–Traditional Cultural Dancing (5-6+ years) </p>

<p>Essays were straight to the point and very personal. Not sure what I would rate them…</p>

<p>I know UCLA is a long shot. And I know I have a good chance at Davis and San Diego. What about Berk? Sociology is NOT impacted at UC Berkeley. </p>

<p>Thank you so much for reading this long boring post :]
Will chance you backk…pinky promise!
Good luck everyone!</p>

<p><em>rolling around in anticipation of march/april</em> i think i got in to ucsc game design since last year my friend got in with a 2.78 with missing pre-req o.O. now just really hoping for uci too. since they are the two uc with the program. </p>

<p>Fall GPA = 3.29</p>
